“Lovely hotel great staff”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

Just home after great family weekend in Yeats hotel, myself, husband and two children aged 3 & 6 ! I have to say I read some reviews before I went and I was worried by what I read !! But I can't fault hotel ! The reception staff and bar staff are very friendly and helpful, the bar menu is good and reasonably priced , we dined on first night in restaurant which is old style but part of hotels atmosphere ! Bar areas are lovely welcoming with big warm fires !! The children loved the swimming pool, and the family bedroom was very spacious. The room was clean and tidy and nice bathroom. Overall we enjoyed our weekend away and would return to this hotel again !

Just back from spending a night in Yeats Country Hotel and I can't say enough about the place. Stayed with my mum and sisters and we were all so impressed with the friendliness of the staff, quality of the food and above all the fantastic treatment we received in the spa :-) thanks so much we will definitely return :-)

we had heard good things about the hotel so we decided to stay here for a weekend with the family. we had high expectations and they were met from the minute we arrived in the hotel. we had a large room which was perfect for the family which was very clean. we thought the staff were very friendly. the kids loved the pool while we relaxed in the hot tub. we will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future!

The location of this hotel is just out of this world. I would have loved to have taken a movie of the drive up to post it as is just indescribable. The hotel itself has a complete charm to it. The warmest of welcomes just comes naturally here - you can just tell all the staff are delighted to welcome you. The bar and lobby are really cosy and perfect for a winter's night. The restaurant is just gorgeous - a beautiful space with warm colours and a cosy atmosphere. I had a really tasty meal. My room was perfect - had everything I needed for a great nights sleep. I was in the area for work reasons so unfortunately did not get to enjoy the amazing scenery, nor did I get a chance to use the lovely swimming pool on site. A genuinely great hotel.

I booked a deal rush midweek break here and then read the trip advisor reviews which were very mixed.
I was not sure what to expect and was really surprised by our experience.
Yes the rooms are a bit dated but I kinda liked this and especially liked the large size and lovely views.
Yes the carpets and dining area are old world but for me it added character.
The spa on the third floor was one of the best ive ever been in and with sea weed bath as part of our deal I was really pampered.
The leisure centre swimming pool is really clean, warm and great fun for the kids.
The hotel bar and open fires are really relaxing and very warm.
We stayed on the second floor and it was perfect.
One point though, i think the hotel has to put in place rules around children running around, particularly in the bar after 9.00pm. It was hard to relax in the bar with kids running around and unsupervised. There should be no kids in the bar after 9.00.
I would recommend the hotel its great vaue in a beautiful area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view.

Returned yesterday from a 2 night B&B break with my family and we are all in agreement we will not be back.We had stayed here many times in years gone by and had fond memories of this hotel so 8 years later we decided to return again.
First impressions were the hotel car park is poorly lit and full of potholes so drive slowly as you enter it!The partially lit sign adorning the front of the hotel reads ''Yea Ountry Hotel'',signs of things to come......
The reception and surrounding seating area have been revamped since our last visit and are very welcoming.Reception staff were very matter of fact in their approach and had not honoured my request for a bedroom to the front of the hotel with a sea view but instead a rear hotel room facing the leisure centre car park.
The hotel doors still have old fashioned keys and we were soooo disappointed when we entered the room. The furniture is so dated, our daughter said ''this is like an old peoples home''.Both the unit behind the door and the drawers in the wardrobe are screwed shut so the only space we had for our clothes was half a dozen hangers in the wardrobe. The television was like something from the dark ages and the picture was snowy on all channels. The wall lights were crooked and the sofa bed was held together with staples to the rear.Toiletries in the bathroom consisted of 2 plastic shower hats and a wall soap dispenser at the sink and 1 in the bath so it felt like you were in a public toilet, not a hotel room.
The other members of our party, who were staying in the room opposite ours, had heavy throws on both beds which we didn't, so I asked one of the maid staff could she supply us with them. She apologised and said they were not back from laundry yet.Several mins later she appeared with throws which was very impressive only they were damp so I then had to set about drying them on the radiator in the room before I could place them on the bed.
The initial feeling of our group was to sign ourselves out of the hotel but we decided to try the leisure facilities first. There was no-one to great us at reception desk and when he did come he said there were no towels as they were in the laundry. The steam room wasn't working, the jacuzzi water was cold, the lane dividers in the pool needed to be taken out and power hosed to remove the algae, the chrome railings around the kids pool has completely corroded,no locks on changing room lockers,no toilet roll in toilets, handles missing on most locker doors, nowhere to put used wet towels in the changing area(these have to be carried to reception and placed in a plastic basket). On our visit to the pool on day 2 we were told the main pool and baby pool were being used for swimming lessons(there were 6 swimming teachers taking groups of 2 children each) until 6pm and that guests had only the use of 1 lane in the main pool until that time.I'm not surprised this facility has not gained 'the white flag award' since 2007.
The only positive thing about our stay was the breakfast.Everything was hot, fresh and there was plenty for everyone. However the staff seemed to be stretched and could probably do with another pair of hands.
There was entertainment in the bar on our first night, which we hadn't been made aware of by reception staff,so we missed it which was a real shame as the kids would've enjoyed it.And of course on our 2nd night there was no entertainment, brilliant!!
There was an overwhelming smell of damp on the ground-floor corridor, fire hoses had been removed from the walls at both ends of the corridor, wiring was protruding from the ceiling above the fire exit door and the floor sank down in certain parts as we walked along the corridor (damp????).
In summary Mr Mc Eniff, the living quarters and leisure facilities in this hotel need an overhaul asap as you are losing custom and this will continue unless some investment is put into this hotel urgently.None of our group of 8 will be returning again and we will ensure our friends and relatives do not book this hotel either. It's a real shame because it is located in such a picturesque part of the world and is an ideal base for touring the surrounding area.
