My wife Dyan and I visited Roscommon in October 2009, on a much-anticipated "family history" trip to the land of my ancestors. We are so glad we found Gleeson's, and will definitely return for a longer stay. Our room was comfortable and quiet, the food was excellent, gracious hosts, and wonderfully convenient to everything in Roscommon Town. Eamonn spent a great deal of time drawing maps (great keepsakes!) for me to get to the churches and cemeteries in Kilteevan, which I probably never would have found otherwise. We felt like we were staying with friends. Everyone at Gleeson's was friendly, helpful and made our stay enjoyable. If we had known how good it was, we would have altered our itinerary to stay longer. HIGHLY recommended. Richard Rook (Massachusetts USA)

Dined here very recently with a group off the main restaurant area...the orders for the drinks were taken and a hot port arrived with no lemon or cloves in it and the 2nd one that was ordered had to be requested again, it arrived with lemon and cloves the glasses were not heated prior to the hot port being poured into it so it went cold quite fast. The food orders (main courses only) were taken and an hour later the waitress was asked if we were forgotton about and about 15mts later it started to arrive, one of the guests had ordered soup and brown bread and it took this length of time before she was served. Lasagne arrived in a cereal/dessert dish that you would use in your home obviously it had been sitting there all afternoon as it was stuck to the dish. Portions on the small size for the other guests and not too appertising. This would not entice us to return should we be in this area again...

My husband and I recently spent the October bank holiday weekend in Gleesons in Roscommon. We cannot say enough good things about the place - the accommodation, the food and the cost - we got a great deal with bed , breakfast for 2 nights and 1 dinner included for 89 euro person - the menu had plenty to choose from and if you wanted to have a second dinner there they had a special offer of 50 euro for 2 people which included a bottle of house wine - not plonk either let me tell you - we were stuffed! The breakfast there is pretty fanatastic also with a huge selection to chose from - juices, porridge with fresh cream, huge full Irish breakfast and the most delicious home made brown bread with walnuts and dont forget their home made jams. When we arrived we had a bit of a mix up with our booking but Siobhan who was in charge for the weekend sorted everything out - she and all the staff were fantastic - dont take my word for it just go and spend a nice cosy winter weekend there. You will definetly return as we hope to in the New Year - Eileen and Terry O'Connor - Cork

We gathered for a school re-union - 31 years out! This is our 2nd occasion to have our re-union at Gleeson's
We were greeted by Mary & Eamonn like old friends and were immediately ensconced in the leather wing-back chairs for tea & beautiful homemade cakes by the turf fire. We had a group of about 15 and we all stayed in the well-appointed and comfortable rooms. Eamonn and Mary had made a great effort to ensure the group were all made welcome and had organised a special menu and rate for us.
The food in Gleeson's is of an exceptional standard. They have an artisan food shop next door where they sell many of the speciality items that are served in the restaurant.
The meal that evening was wonderful. The spiced beef starter was particularly outstanding. Gleeson's make a serious effort to source top quality Irish produce. A locally brewed ale "Galway Hooker" is available on tap in the well-stocked restaurant bar.
We had a fantastic relaxing week-end with quality food, beautiful surroundings and absolutely wonderful hosts.
Next year's re-union is already booked. Well done!

We stayed here and upgraded to one of their suites which was absolutely gorgeous.
We turned up without a booking one evening and were fitted in. They even had a function going on for 'The Rose of Tralee', but they still made us very welcome.
Eamonn who owns this place is lovely, helpful and very welcoming. Free internet usage and computer for all guests to use and the rooms are simply stunning. Gorgeous plush bedding and all the comforts you could want.
The breakfast which was included was delightful and being real foodies, it was one of the best we had in our two weeks in Ireland.....and most of them were great so that's saying something.
Would love to stay there again if we ever get back to Ireland.

I stayed in Gleesons's last month. The Genuine Hospitality was really great, the product was great and the food was superb! I would hihglu recommend Gleesons, parking round the back is a big plus and don't forget to visit the Artisan Food & Wine Shop before you leave Roscommon. Will be back with friends!!!

Prices quoted were not upheld: was organising for a large family group & loads of them were overcharged from the rate quoted. Management was abrupt & rude to deal with. The food was plain and boring. Very disappointing.
