Location for Roscommon is fantastic, sat as it is right on the main square. Well run, with a great restaurant, it was a very comfortable place to stay in the heart of Ireland. The room was somewhat basic compared to other places I've stayed and could have been quieter. However, we left with great memories of our trip.

Room Tip: Aim for the original building or towards the end of the corridor.

Stayed at Gleesons Townhouse last weekend and certainly was not disappointed. We were greeted by Eamonn and Mary and shown to our room - a lovely suite front of house. The room was extremely tastefully decorated, with some freshly baked cookies alongside the tea and coffee station. Lovely touch.

Gleeson’s clearly pride themselves on quality and it shows. All components of the breakfast were Irish, where possible local and tasted amazing. My partner indulged on the best full Irish I have ever seen. I was so disappointed that we could only stay one night as we were traveling on. I cannot pay a higher compliment to the Gleeson’s other than to say that true Irish hospitality shines through and I think there are a lot of business owners out there that could take example from Eamonn, Mary and their family. Genuine, quality hospitality and at a reasonable price. More people like you guys should be in this business.

Just spent a most enjoyable weekend in Gleesons with friends of 30 years. We were treated royally by our hosts Mary and Eamonn Gleeson from our arrival. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the treat on arrival of coffee and scones set the tone. Both the food and accommodation were of the highest quality all weekend. Needless to say we will be back and soon.

I am not sure how our stay could have been improved. Gleesons is right in the town centre. Although we only asked for a double our room had a king size bed. The 'Special' breakfast was great - bacon, egg, sausage, home fries, white pudding, black pudding, mushrooms, tea, toast, speciality breads. All the things I'm not allowed to eat at home. Tea and scones in the afternoon by the open turf fire. The staff were always attentive with Eamonn or Mary Gleeson often on hand. Try Harlow's pub just across the square for a taste of how Irish pubs used to be. Roscommon is not the new Ibiza but it does have an abundance of pubs, in every one of which you will be warmly welcomed. Our three nights finished at 1 a.m., 2 a.m. and midnight and on each occasion the music and crack were still going strong when we left.

This townhouse was a lovely hotel to find ourselves in for the night in Roscommon. It was easy to find, with private parking and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were arriving early in the morning after flying from England, and though check-in wasn't supposed to be until 2pm, they arranged for us to have a room on arrival in the morning.

Whilst we were waiting for our room to be organised (they apologised that it wasn't ready as they had some unexpected guests stay at the last minute the night before) we were invited to have tea and home-made scones in their little cafe. Very welcome and delicious!

The room was a nice size, though the furniture was a little dated, especially when considering that the room was 90 euros for a night. The bathroom had a few minor defects.

I liked the homely touches, such as home-made cookies in the room, and the breakfast the next morning was spectucular. The home-made breads were absolutely delicious, and I had no complaints with the cooked breakfast either!

I would stay here again, and would recommend to others. It seemed to have a nice central location in the town as well, though my partner would have expected slightly better furnishings for the price.
