Myself and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel recently, for two nights. On the day that we were arriving I rang the hotel to ask for directions. The lady answered the phone, gave me the directions and couldn't get me off the phone quick enough even though I had a few queries. We got to the hotel and checked in. The room was lovely, full of character and cosy. We went for dinner that evening in the dining room. Although there wasn't a huge range on the menu to choose from, I took a chance ordering steak, it was fantastic. On check in we were not informed of breakfast or dinner times. Being a receptionist myself in a four star hotel I would expect these basic procedures in any hotel or B&B. To be honest, I didnt feel at home in the hotel. The reception staff could have been nicer. Although they were not rude, they were not heplful or friendly. I felt like a piece of the furniture, like my custom meant nothing to their hotel, I didn't like that. Breakfast was impressive. Self service. Good variety to choose from. I don't know if I'll be back to this hotel.
