We stayed in the small lodge (2 people). The accommodation is superb with new appliances and a modern finish. The owners are very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
For those fishing it is located very close to Lake Muckno, other great lakes, and Castleblaney (useful for the tackle shop).
We would certainly be booking again in the future.
The house had everything we needed. It was really lovely, nicely decorated with loads of space. Fiona (the owner ) was so helpful. It was a lovely location and so nice to have an outside space . It was just what we wanted.
Gorgeous spacious home in peaceful rural surroundings. Photographs don't do it justice. 10 of us stayed as a family group. Kids and adults loved it. Had everything we needed for a great weekend away. Great play park in Castleblayney for the kids. Didn't meet Fiona in person but Peter on hand to answer any questions we had. Would definitely visit again.
Amazing location with Lake Muckno close by which was great for the family. The lodge was very spacious inside and out. I would recommend this lodge to anyone absolutely beautiful.
We had the most fabulous stay at Muckno Lodge, whilst visiting our family and friends in Castleblayney. The house is perfect and comfortable and was everything we could ask for, including Christmas decorations! Fiona and her family were great hosts and always on hand. There are some beautiful walks directly from the front door. Hope to come back in the summer.
We had such a wonderful time in the Muckno Lodge! A really special home for the holidays. Also the hosts were very nice.
We travelled here with 3 generations aged 10 to 70+. The accommodation was fantastic! It was very comfortable, well-equipped and spacious. The children loved the games room. We found it a great base to explore County Monaghan and beyond. We had some great days out at the nearby lake and adventure playground and even hired canoes one afternoon. Carlingford was beautiful and also gave us the opportunity to visit the Long Woman's Grave and Magic Hill. The museum at Monaghan was very interesting and the cathedral there was huge. We enjoyed a walking tour around Carrickmacross and visited the lace gallery and Workhouse there.
The owners were really helpful and even let the children visit and name the newborn calf which was born on the day we arrived.
I cannot recommend this holiday home highly enough!
