I spent quite a long time in Slane enjoying the silence and beautiful countryside around the river Boyne. I stayed in the hostel having fun with different people from all over the world who were as friendly and open-minded as the staff of the hostel itself. There's a great common room in the hostel as well as a kitchen (I've never seen a hostel kitchen providing that modern and clean equipment, it definitely was much more than "Irish standard") and a games room. It's possible to rent a bike to explore the environment by bike. For longer trips it's only a 15 minutes walk to Slane village to get to Dublin or Monaghan by bus which is only a quite short journey. Slane Farm Hostel is a perfect place to stay if you want to visit historically famous sights like Newgrange or the Hill of Slane which you can reach per pedis.
All these things considered I would recommend this hostel (it also offers Cottages and single rooms for people who don't want to share their room with others) in any case and I'm sure I'll visit it again. It's simply a good place to forget about the stress and hectic one has in one's every day life - at least when looking at a typical German every day life. I've been looking forward to being back in Slane since I left this place.

We stayed for 2 nights in a cottage at Slane Farm Hostel and really enjoyed it. The area is very quiet and rural but it´s easy to reach Slane or Drogheda and all the sights in the area. The cottage was bigger than my home with a living room with many sofas, a nice and bright kitchen with everything you need, an extra bedroom, etc.
Would recommend the cottages (don´t know the Hostel) to anyone who wants to stay not too far away from Dublin but still in a typical landscape surrounded by sheep.
