“Very noisy hotel (lots of noise from outside)”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We stayed on a Saturday night in January 2013. We got a great deal online (€47 for two people B&B). The hotel is nicely decorated and the staff are extremely helpful. Our room was on the first floor which was nice (clean, warm, comfortable bed). The only compliaint I have was the noise we heard at night. There is a nightclub located directly under the hotel which was not a problem as there was no noise from music etc but at 3am when the club was emptied, crowds of people assembled on the street outside (directly under our window on the 1st floor). There was a lot of shouting etc until people eventually found their way home. This lasted about 40 minutes. Then as 7am the church accoss the road started ringing its bells (and continued to do so every 30mins)...needless to say we didn't get much sleep.
Apart from a bad nights sleep, the hotel was lovely. Breakfast that next morning was good, they had a good selection of hot and cold food, scones, fruit, yogurts, pastries etc. We arrived down at about 10am and the restaurant was extremely busy so for a more relaxed breakfast I recommend arriving earlier.
Oh, one more thing, the lift seriously needs to be looked at by a professional. It's very jumpy and stops violently...really scary actually.

So, would we go back to stay in this hotel?...probably not as it was too noisy. I did make a complaint to reception about the noise the next morining and was told that if I booked the room over the phone I would have been warned about the noise at night. I was also told that they state on their website that there is an issue with noise in the hotel and we were lucky that there wasnt a function on aswell on the night we stayed, or else the noise would have been worse. Again, I just want to say that the staff were extremely nice and understanding.

Room Tip: Do not stay here if you need quietness in order to sleep

I stayed here for one night and the hotel is basic but good value

Had a meal in the restaurant and it was really excellent.

I had one serious problem. During the night 4.30 am the night porter gave a man who was drunk to say the least the key to my room by mistake. ( I assume). The porter never checked his ID and you can only imaging the shock I got when he entered my room at that time.

After I complained the Hotel did not charge for the stay but I don't think I could ever stay there again knowing that security is very bad. I could only imaging the shock and stress if children were staying in the room.

We had a one night Stay here courtesy of a social deal voucher which was excellent value at 99 euro for a four course steak diner with wine and b/b.The food was lovely and the staff very friendly. Its a small cosy hotel with 2 fires lighting in the lobby which was nice to sit after a good meal.We had a large bedroom at the back of the hotel and had a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Room at the back seems to have less noise

We stayed here for Nw Years Eve as we were ment to be heading out on the town. But as i had a cold for the last week we decided jjust to stay in instead. we arrived at about half 7 or so, the lady at the counter was very helpful in booking us in. we had food in the resturant, food was great !! and very well priced ! €16 for 2 course €19 for 3 course on the early bird menu ! the girl that was waiting out table couldnt be nicer, was full of chat and really made us feel at home. i cant remember her name, but she was really lovely ! the room wasnt amazing, could do with a lick of paint but it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. shower was a little funny, went cold once or twice but the power was good. i must appologise to the hotel i may of flooded the bathroom a tiny bit when in shower but i mopped up all i could and it seemed dry when i was leaving the next morning, the noise from the nightclub was quite loud but i was expecting that as it was nye! still managed to sleep thought it no prob !! breakfast was lovely, and was even offered more toast which i find some hotels dont! had a perfect time in the newgrange, thank you !! oh and ps the lift is a bit scary, kept thinking it was gonna break !!

Have stayed here a number of times over the last couple of years, and it has always been top class, rooms are very spacious and spotless clean, breakfast was great, everything you expect from a continental breakfast and more, we had a full Irish which was also great. Staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the lady that served breakfast, she was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we wanted. Beds are really comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Location is also great as its right in the middle of Navan town.

Room Tip: Ask for room on 5th floor as it seemed really quiet here!
