“Another great addition in Maynooth”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Maynooth is becoming a good place to dine out with some good value eateries opening up in recent years. Bistro 53 is the newest - just open a week. Excellent value lunch -two courses for €11.95. Food is tasty, freshly cooked and service is attentive and friendly. I look forward to dining there in the evening some time

“The best barman!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

I recently visit this new restaurant in maynooth and I have to say something for the barman he is a young Hungarian fella, and I wish to thank you the
beautiful cocktail what he made. They dont have a cocktail menu just yet but he promised he will do the best he can! And he made it! Was amazing , tasty, and he's just the most friendly guy who I ever met! Thank you again! And see you soon!

“Disappointing Customer Service!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

I lunched with a friend today in Bistro 53 and was somewhat amazed by the response I got from the waiter. We both had soup as a starter, they gave us desert spoons to eat our soup. Bread came with the soup. I asked for butter which came and was rock hard. Could not use the butter plus no side plate to be able to butter the bread if it was spreadable.

When the waiter was clearing away the soup bowls I said the butter was too hard to use and that the spoons they gave were desert spoons. He responded and told me "it says Bistro over the door and not restaurant" which means what? So that was justification for not having proper cutlery. Clearly the customer service training has failed

The mains were lovely.

We both ordered the tiramisu which was disappointing, did not get taste of much coffee or rum. There was too much of it also, so less quantity & more quality for your tiramisu!

No credit card terminal available "we only opened last week". Looks like they have opened too soon and should at least tell patrons when they arrive at least that there is no credit card terminal. Get some customer service training and learn how to interact with your customers with out sounding like smart arses!

Dear Maynoothfella,
Thank you for taking time to review our restaurant. I know it's been a while since you've put that review but as new business at the time with a new staff it's prosess to establish high standards customer service. we took your review on board and i think we reached the high standard customers service. Credit card terminal its up and running ok . we look forward to give us another chanceto prove that.
kindest regards

“Great new modern bistro”
Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

Visited this stylish new bistro Friday 12 th . First impression was very good some serious money spent on decor and interior design hard to believe this was former mama Mia . Greeted and seated by manager Adrian very professional and courteous. dined from their excellent value early bird at 17.95 for two courses . Excellent risotto and gnocchi for starters all cooked to perfection and very fresh , followed by sea trout in a seafood broth and chicken with Tuscan white bean stew both very tasty dishes. Portion sizes a little small and side orders maybe required but not listed on early bird menu. Bread would also be a nice option to mop up the excellent flavours from the main course sauces . Very good wine list with a good selection fairly priced . We had a very good Tempranillo from La Mancha in Spain priced a very reasonable €18 a bottle . Lovely ambiance in dining room with excellent attentive and professional service . A nice addition to the dining scene in Maynooth and other establishments will have to up their game to compete.i will return here soon to try their ala carte menu all the best to this new bistro.

“Beautiful decor, dreadful service, poor food”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Four of us went out for dinner in this new restaurant early in its opening week.

Our first impression was very good.
The decor is beautiful and the couches very comfortable. We ordered an extremely nice French red wine, to be honest it was delicious.

However, the positives stopped there.
We had a 1 hr plus wait for our starters, they were having a few problems with there fans in the kitchen and I guess this is a reason for the delay.

Two of us had the prawns a la plancha and at first we thought they were abit 'creamy' and not quite tender. My friend only ate 1 prawn, but my other friend ate all 3.

Both were very unwell the following day with stomach problems and sickness.

The main courses took another 1 hr to arrive and after arriving for dinner around 7-7.30ish we only got our main courses at after 11pm!

The mains were disappointing, the Seabass was very dry and lacking flavour and the black ink pasta wasn't nice either.

Overall, very mixed night; beautiful decor, great atmosphere, delicious wine, but dreadful service and poor food.
