“Cozy, clean, wonderful hosts and perfect location”
Reviewed May 22, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

We felt at home right away. We walked in and were greeted by fresh scones and jam as well as a kitchen stocked with all the basic essentials (coffee, laundry detergent, condiments, etc). Anna Marie was a wonderful hostess and offered great recommendations for touring the area. The location is gorgeous, and Letterfrack is a beautiful village with friendly locals and great places to eat or have a few drinks. The cottage is also located right beside Connemara National Park, which is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely stay here again.

After a long drive from Dublin we were welcomed with freshly baked scones and jam, such a nice treat! The house was very clean and had everything that you'd need, including oven, washing machine and dryer. We also enjoyed the patio outside where we could relax and watch the sunset in the evenings. Anna Marie gave us very helpful tips about the surrounding area and she knew everything about the GMIT furniture college! The house is the perfect base for exploring Connemara, with the national park at less than 5 minutes drive and stunning beaches like lettergesh or glassilaun so close too. The house is pet-friendly, so we brought our two collies with us and they had a brilliant time! I can't wait for another holiday there :)

“Lovely little cottage, very kind owner”

We stayed at Fuchsia for a week and were very happy upon meeting Anna Marie, who told us everything we needed to know upon arrival. Anna Marie went out of her way to provide us with a travel cot, high chair and even a pram! The location of the cottage between the village of Letterfrack and the pier, from which we were able to take a short boat trip, was excellent. The national park is really close by, and there are good shopping facilities in the village. The cottage itself is lovely, with a terrace, gardens, deer and sheep on the other side of the fence, and free parking on the driveway. Upon arrival, you'll find an informative folder with lots of tips about the local area and tourist activities. The kitchen was generally in good working order and the wifi was working fine.

A few things that could be improved:
- the street upon which the property is situated is a winding road with a 100km/h(!) speed limit and bad visibility to the right-hand side when driving out of the driveway. There is also no pavement on this street, meaning (1) that you can't walk that road with a pram or kids, (2) that you definitely shouldn't walk that road at night, especially after having a drink or two, so you can't enjoy the village's bars on foot, and (3) that cars are driving at dangerously high speeds directly next to the entrance to the driveway without a pavement in between. Anna Marie tells me that there have been some local discussions about widening the road. We really hope this happens and that the speed limit - at least for the residential part of the road - comes up for review, so that we could return with children and feel safe about going out with them on foot.
- With hindsight, the cottage was a bit small for us with a baby. For a couple, it's great, but with a baby that is learning to crawl and explore, we should probably have booked one of Anna Marie's larger properties. It seemed excessive at the time of booking, but unless your baby is always comfortable sleeping in a travel cot in a different room, the bed is too small to fit a baby in with the parents, and with a travel cot next to the bed, the bedroom is already full. This is something that could perhaps be advised to guests with children when they send a booking enquiry.
- It was a bit tricky for us that the property could only be booked from Saturday to Saturday. This wasn't mentioned on the website when we sent the initial booking request (all days of the week were possible there), but Anna Marie explained that the website didn't allow her to input those restrictions and that due to her working hours, it was only possible for her to get the property ready on the weekend. We managed to get it worked out, but because we're dependent on the incompatible German school and university vacation dates, it meant us having to dash straight from work in Germany on Thursday to catch the necessary ferries to the UK then to Dublin, before driving across Ireland to get to the property for check-in on the Saturday. Maybe the booking restrictions could be added to the general property description on the website (homeaway).
- A sieve or colander would be a welcome addition to the kitchen.

All in all, though, a lovely experience at this smashing little cottage, which I would consider ideal for couples.

Liked best: Anna Marie was wonderfully helpful!
Liked least: No pavement on the road on which the cottage is situated - unsafe, especially when travelling with babies / children.

Thank you Andy for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Fuchsia and Connemara. The road between Fuchsia and Letterfrack village has been sanctioned to be widened and we certainly hope this work will take place later this year. Unfortunately due to work commitments I can only accommodate bookings Saturday to Saturday. I hope you had a good journey home and thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

We had a wonderfultime in Ireland. The holiday rental was great. Anna Marie is very hospitable. We really enjoyed our stay and we're looking forward to come back one day. Letterfrack is a perfect starting point for several trips.
