The Laurel Lodge is an ideal place to discover the Connemara National Park and the corresponding part of the Wild Atlantic Way. We stayed here for three weeks with three kids between 17 and 21, and we still did not visit everything.
The house has everything a family of five (or six for that matter) needs, and even when things are missing or malfunctioning, Anna, the house owner, immediately comes to the rescue. The kitchen table is a bit small for five or six grownups, but we managed. Beds were good (I have a back problem, so I am very critical on this :-)) and the sleeping rooms were spacious enough. The living room is OK and has all the necessary multimedia you could need on a holiday (this even includes dvd’s and books for a rainy day). You have a nice view on the Barnaderg Bay and Tully mountain, so you are immediately in the mood.
The house is big enough so everybody can also have some private time when needed.
The lodge also has a nice garden and all the necessary facilities, but we were away so often that we did not have time to quietly sit in the garden.
Finally I want to give my compliments to Anna, the house owner, who gave us a very warm welcome, and visited us every week with a nice surprise and more advice to further discover the area. Sheets are included in the rental agreement, but after two weeks we even got clean sheets! A service I do not often get in other lodges and one that I can appreciate very much.
So in one line: if you want to visit the area, the Laurel Lodge is a perfect place to stay!
