Glenmore House
Reviewed April 7, 2014

My husband and daughter visited recently. Not impressed and It reminded them a bit of the haunted house that Scooby Doo and the gang used to end up in after finding shelter in a storm

Very tired décor and in need of quite a bit of a spruce up. Wifi seems to stop when more than a few people want to access it. We had two rooms, one of which smelt of cigarette smoke and the other of something else they couldn't quite work out.

On the upside it’s not expensive and TGI Fridays is just round the corner.

Stayed here for one night to catch early flight. It is bare bones. Everything worn. They have to use air fresheners to cover up smells. Internet only works in lobby. Convenient to airport but would not stay again

After reading some of the reviews from mostly American tourists I was a bit wary of actually booking Glenmore House. On my arrival i can only say, Brilliant! My worries were quashed immediatley. We were warmly welcomed at reception, had our room made available early and we were shown to room 16. An excellent sized double room and very clean. Balcony was nice, Bathroom was nice and clean and also a good size. Breakfast was continental style in the communal area downstairs, as were the tea & coffee facilities and WiFi. Once again, this area was clean and tidy and allowed for you to meet with other guests or just chill out and use the laptop. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bus service to airport and also into Dublin stop right outside. Dublin was 3.10 euros, YOU WILL NEED CHANGE!! Shuttle bus to airport was 2 euros. All in all a very nice place and we will be coming back!

Room Tip: We recommend room 16. Although no WiFi signal, it does have balcony and is nice and peaceful.

The warm, honest, genuine, well adorable Abi was our first impression of the bed-and-breakfast his charisma was outstanding we have never come across somebody so committed to service as Abi was as we walked through the door, i'm currently looking for an apartment in the area of swords this seems to be more of a mission impossible but Abi's jokes and pleasant demeaner made me feel more relaxed in my mission in order to find a perfect location for living in swords
Part one
The room itself is spacious clean all I could do with a little bit of paint work, at €225 for a week Winchester to steal compared to the prices around you can booking at the Travelodge weather homeless people living there begging for cigarettes and cash outside the reception what is your booking to the premier in with all the new funky mod cons for that and paying extortionate amount of €60 a night
Part two
A continental breakfast is a bonus obviously it's free of charge its useful just as it is with the Internet which you can use always in the restaurant area, for those of you don't wish to eat out in expensive restaurants in Ireland or the Dublin area saving money can obviously be an option use the fridge to store some of your food which a lot of the guests do.
Part three
One of my fellow guests here mentioned that there is pet friendly here which we do appreciate it he just smashed a dog in the doorway
part four
The dog is fine
Part five
Its six minutes walk into the centre of swords, take 10 minutes to walk down to the airport, the bus routes outside of the Hotel take all local links down to Dublin town centre

All in all friendly hard working staff..

Less than 2km from the airport and serviced by the very reasonably priced Hopper bus (€2). It's cheap, clean warm & efficient, they don't pretend to be anything else. Yes it needs a bit of an overhaul, but in terms of value for money & easy access to the airport for a very early flight, I was very happy with the place.

When you arrive at the house, even the drive way screams I need some TLC. There are potholes and the garden is dying. In a country where the rain fall is so high, I found this very hard to understand. Our room was spacious. It had broken locks on the windows and the bathroom needs to be scrubbed. It is just a very tired hotel which would have been delightful in its former years. If a bit of money were spent and it was given some TLC, I would certainly stay there again. There is a bus stop immediately outside for Dublin and it is 5mins from the airport so the location is great. It was sufficient for an overnight stay.

We stayed at this property at the end of our stay in Ireland as did our friends since we wanted something close to the airport. I had mixed feeling about booking after reading some of the reviews. We arrived earlier in the morning after dropping our car at the airport. The staff was very accommodating and helpful checking us in, keeping our bags since the room was not ready. They helped us with bus schedules into Dublin and exact change for the bus...very helpful. They even offered to keep our beer & wine in their fridge to keep cold. The guest house is very worn and could use a makeover, however, we did find our rooms clean with plenty of fresh towels. We were on the second floor in room 24 which had a large terrace, but there was no key for the door. They offered to change the room the next day, but it was not a big deal for us. Wi fi worked in that room. There is a common lounge area downstairs and they allowed us to bring our beer & wine there for a night cap. It was quiet and we were only 5 mins by shuttle from the airport. Breakfast was a variety of things...coffee, tea, toast, sweet rolls, cheeses, ham, marmalades, fruits and cereals. This property seems to be used mainly by backpackers. If you keep in mind this is a BUDGET property that has seen better days, but is clean and helpful you will be ok with it. We paid less for a night there than many of our meals, so you get what you pay for! We also stayed there again for a night on our way back from Portugal, found the same thing...the beds were clean and comfortable, but the carpets, drapes, etc were worn. All in all, we were fine with it and would stay there again because of the location and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have wi-fi..but it seems that the closer you get to the reception area, the better is...
