“My perfect getaway place”

Out 4th stay and it's where I love to get away from it all and recharge the batteries, we are booking out 5th stay today. Sad to see someones dog had chewed parts of the house :( I hope this doesn't mean Sean will reconsider having dogs in the property, I would be heart broken if that was the case. Only just home on Saturday and looking forward to returning already. I love this location.

A superb break. The cottage is the perfect place to zone out for a few days. We found the rooms comfortable with suitable amenities. The surrounding area is beautiful, Slieve League is outstanding. We will no doubt visit again.

“Nothing to dislike”
Reviewed January 20, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Back for our 3rd stay, and we will be back again. Just love the place. We had a slight issue with hot water but as soon as we rang Sean was there to sort it, and didn't leave till he was sure we had pumping hot water. Lovely man. I hope the cottage remains the same for years to come as I plan to keep returning... Really is my kind of heaven. Read 5 books and walked dogs just bliss :)

“Absolutely wonderful stay”
Reviewed January 18, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Conscottage is something else. Words such as tranquility, romance, quaintness and nature all spring to mind. It really is the perfect getaway. We travelled from County Antrim with our two dogs and stayed for 3 nights. We literally did not want to leave.

Sean's communication was excellent and booking and arrival at the cottage was easy and stress-free. Flexibility with check-out time in our situation was most appreciated.

The cottage is about a 15 minute drive from the fishing town of Killybegs and close to many points of interest such as Fintragh Beach (best beach in County Donegal in my opinion, maybe even Ireland), Slieve League cliffs (excellent mountain walk with spectacular views), Donegal Town (go to Chandpur Indian restaurant, amazing) etc. There are convience stores, a large SuperValu, petrol filling station and bars, restaurants etc. a short car journey away although you still feel secluded up in the hills. A 30min taxi into Donegal Town, if you want a few drinks, will cost about €35 each way.

Down a private lane you will arrive at the beautiful thatched roof cottage. It is set in its own private woodland with lots of space for dogs and children to play. Many have noted but I will reiterate, there are sheep roaming around so consider this when walking your dog. There are views of the lake and the sky at night is stunning.

The cottage is warm, cosy and comfortable. Large open-plan living and dining space filled with items to make it feel like home, including fleece blankets, books, travel magazines and board games. The wood burning stove was lovely and we were provided with enough fuel for the first 1-2 fires. The SuperValu in Killybegs sells sticks and coal to replenish.

There is a double bedroom and a 2x single bedroom. The double bed, my partner claimed, was better than a hotel bed and I have to agree. So comfortable. There is ample storage space and a dressing table for hair and make-up (I don't believe there is a hairdryer so be sure to pack your own!)

Bathroom is great with an excellent power shower and we always had piping hot water. Only 2no. bath towels provided although this was not a problem as we brought our own and were able to re-use the ones provided. There is ample radiator space around the cottage for drying items. You will need to bring your own soap, shampoo and shower gel.

Kitchen basic but ample glassware (even champagne flutes for our bubbly, great), plates, utensils, pots and pans etc. It was immaculately clean. You can stock up at the nearby SuperValu - there is cooking oil, salt, pepper and cleaning products but you will need to bring all the basics like teabags, butter, milk etc.

The fact that dogs are accepted is amazing. There is lots of space in the kitchen for them to sleep however the door would not close and they could escape into the living area. We solved this by putting a chair in front of the door and tying the handle to the chair.

There is WIFI available for a weekly charge of €20 I believe, which is convenient if staying here for longer than a few days. But we enjoyed having little signal and no internet for a few days. Totally escapism.

We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in front of the fire with a bottle of wine and a cheese board, watching Freeview TV with the dogs at our feet. Total bliss.

Thank you Sean for a wonderful stay! We look forward to returning.

Lauren and Ronan

“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed September 23, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A wonderfully restored cottage which nestles beautifully in amongst it's own little forest.
It is almost invisible from the track which runs past it and sits in immaculate grounds which boasts a large grassed area to the front which is surrounded by large fuchsia's and wild flowers, plentiful in wildlife too with birds in abundance, quite a nice gentle alarm calm in the morning, that sound apart you hear nothing else, no traffic, no light pollution and magnificent dark skies to take in, just step out the door and look up, fantastic.
For all its seclusion, the town of Killybegs is only about 4 miles down the road, a 10 min drive takes you to supermarkets, restaurants, pubs etc, health centre, everything you need really.
We loved the stay and were very reluctant to leave, two fabulous weeks with some of the best sleep I've had in a long time, due to the silence, dark skies and that superb bed, heavenly.

These next points are not criticisms just noted observations which may be helpful:
Towels were provided and a washing machine is present but we had only two bath & two hand towels for two persons, when we had to wash our towels we had no fresh ones to use until those dried.

The electric cooker is slow at heating up and most controls hard to read the markings on.

Liked best: Setting, seclusion, amenities close by when needed, and the bed!
Liked least: Wi Fi is advertised but it needs to be purchased seperately, we had little phone signal which was good in a way but not great if an emergency occured, I was reluctant to pay 20 euro per week for it, it should be included in the rental price.
