A beautiful park with vast water bodies and the most prominent being the fissure formed between the American and European Tectonic Plates which is a thrill to watch. One can Scuba-dive at this location and actually see it from under the water and swim across the fissure in crystal clear water.

Great jumping off spot for waterfall exploration in Iceland. There are facilities and a shop at the top of the falls.

The whole of this area of Iceland is beauty overload, after a long day travelling round this was really the icing on the cake. The fault and it's path were lovely but it os so important to walk through to the top as well as walking up to the smaller waterfall where we caught the most fantastic sunset ever. Well woth the visit but do take time to walk around.

The Almannagjá fault -- where the European and North American tectonic plates meet -- was awesome. It's not often you can see something like this (they're usually under water), so take the 5 minutes it takes to walk down the path to the bridge connecting the 2 sides. From there, you can see Thingvellir Church. It's only open from May to Sept., so we didn't bother going to it. We asked one of the visitor's center employees for the best route to Geysir (since that was our next stop) and he recommended taking the scenic route around Lake Thingvallavatn. We're so glad we took his advice...the scenery was beautiful, even in winter.
