This was our second visit to Grimsborgir and we will visit again. The house is nicely furnished and very clean and excellent for a luxurious stay. The staff go out of their way to give extra service, even calling us up once they found shoes that we left behind.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask when you arrive if you can have a bigger room/suite with a separate hot tub, we got...

That's how it feels anyway.
Really nice to have the space around you together with a superb restaurant.
The hot tub set up is interesting: one really hot one and one slightly cooler one per guesthouse. We tried the former, stayed in the latter.
Clean, up to together. Welcoming staff. Great to see the owner there too

Room Tip: Ask for one that doesn't face the car park

a very nice location, rooms/apartments were very clean and well appointed, food was good but we were there 3 days and the buffet barely changed for breakfast or dinner, good wine list, very helpful and friendly staff. overall very good, but also very pricey

We were originally booked for two nights at the Hotel Grimsborgir Luxury Apartments and when we arrived we were so impressed we booked to stay a third night. We stayed in the studio suite attached to one of the bigger houses. It has two double bedrooms, a kitchen and an excellent shower room and shares a hot tub with the neighboring unit. The suite was fitted out immaculately.

The restaurant is in the main house and is well appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food was very good indeed. On the first night we were bowled over by the buffet and then again by the breakfast the next morning. The only criticism I would make is that this initial success was then repeated exactly for the next two days. The buffet was identical and the breakfast also showed no variety. For one night this doesn't matter but it does become boring quite quickly.

One other thing: they like international flags. We had a Russian flag outside our suite and I have no idea why - it's not very Icelandic!

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms and dined our one night there. As others have commented the rooms are fine and the buffet dinner excellent. We do not usually favor buffets but this one was exceptional both in the choice of items and the quality of each. We were in Iceland for 16 nights and felt this was one of the best places we stayed at.

,,,if you like a first rate room, outstanding food, and wonderful staff. Not inexpensive, however...

You would not want to stay here if budget is your first concern or if you are looking for a more "local" environment.

We did no research prior to staying here. Was recommended by a travel consultant.

The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Very comfortable bed. 4 spas right outside the door. We didn't use them but they were also spotless.

Buffet dinner was first class. I am not usually a buffet fan. However, the chef stayed in the serving area and explained what all the dishes were, how they were prepared, and even encouraged us to try some things we normally would have not (rams testicles, and sheep head jelly). All the food was fresh and artfully presented. Wine list was adequate.

The owners were in attendance at all times and run a very tight ship. Highest quality dress and behavior standards for the staff.

One of our favorites during our 15 day trip.

We ended up here unexpectedly when our originally planned accommodations didn't work out. From the start the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was huge and spotless. This isn't the low key Icelandic 'rustic' hotel. Everything here is modern and comfortable.
The hot tubs outside were our favourite, they were never to busy and we always had one to ourselves.
The dinner buffet was excellent and the breakfast each morning (included with room price) has lots of selection, including healthy options. The owner was often at breakfast and dinner helping out. All the staff were happy to provide little extras like additional towels upon request. I highly recommend staying here.
