My friend and I drove up the side of a mountain and saw a teeny little square. We'd been driving all day and we couldn't believe this tiny square was where we were spending the next two nights. It was absolutely gorgeous inside, and the food was the best we had in Iceland, hands down. Because it's such a remote location, we requested dinner one night. The other travelers ate with us, and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from around the world. The food was absolutely amazing, although it was expensive (about $78 USD per person without alcohol) but it was worth it, because we hadn't eaten at many expensive restaurants on our trip. It was a four course meal-- incredible appetizers, authentic Icelandic food and recipes specific to the hostel owner as well, and skyr pudding for dessert. The room was adorable and so comfortable. This was the best hostel we stayed at in all of Iceland. The remote location, surrounded by lava fields and mountains and sheep, made it homey and interesting at the same time. The decor was so unique and we loved our room. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I'd also recommend having dinner there. It's expensive, but you won't forget the meal. There is a beautiful dog living at the hostel, so you should like animals if you stay there!
