Strategic point to explore the region and to relax with excellent food in the evening. This place was a very good discovery. More used by groups, as under management of a travel organisation.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, clean large rooms. Some bungalows have a very nice view.

Bummed chef was sick so restaurant closed night we stayed (read it's excellent!). We stayed in room #301 with private bath. Great view. Spacious room for Iceland, free breakfast with homemade bread, and great location not far off main road to Diamond Beach and Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon!
P. S. We ate at Ststrakaffi for dinner, and liked it so much we went back next day after our morning trip to the glacier lagoon and hike around Fjaðrárgljúfur.
Our experience was very nice. It’s nothing too fancy...but you’re in the countryside for goodness sakes! Rooms were very basic, but very clean. Good location for exploring, they have a restaurant and bar, as well as free breakfast in the morning. We stayed in a bungalow on the end. It was super quiet and we enjoyed our stay.
The Geirland hotel is located in the countryside, it is extremely quiet and well positioned for watching northern lights (there were clouds during my stay). The rooms in the large bungalows have a good size, but are quite basic (only a chair and a very small table), but a kettle is there and WiFi is reliable. Breakfast is served in the main building, it was OK, but a bit cramped and hectic.
This was a very nice quiet out of the way hotel we stopped at along the ring road. It was secluded so it allowed us to see the Aurora. The staff was pleasant and the rooms were clean. The rooms were cabins that were very small, even by Iceland standards, and the bathroom was really, really small. The restaurant is listed as a cafeteria, but that was misleading as it was a really good restaurant that served good food and had excellent service. but for the room size, this hotel would get 5 stars.
This place offers basic accommodation. Everything here is average, rooms, space, equipment, breakfast.
Nothing is very bad and nothing is very good. We have stayed in the cabin not in the main building and it wasn't the highlight of our trip. Cabin was quite small but just enough for two people.
This place is definitely massively overpriced but hotels in good location are not easy to find in Iceland so probably that's just the way it is. Actually this was the most expensive stay during our 10 days trip and probably we would not stay here again (KATLA which is not too far away is much better and cheaper option).
On the other hand, location is extremely convenient: nice Stjornarfoss waterfall is just a couple of minutes away, Kirkjugolf "church floor" is another few minutes further - both on the side road from hotel to the ring road. There is another waterfall (Systrafoss) and a tourist centre in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Breakfast selection did not offer any hot option (e.g. scrambled eggs or porridge).
Last but not least: surprisingly dinner served in the restaurant was just great. Everything we have tried was simply delicious.
Overall we would not stay here again: the place is very average and vastly overpriced. The restaurant food was fantastic, but you do not have to stay here overnight to come and enjoy a nice dinner.
