Perfect spot for us, looking for country charm. Motel style which meant each room had a patio walkout. Perfect for stargazing and watching the horses as this hotel is also a wonderful horse farm. Rooms were very comfortable with most amenities that you want, staff was exceptional, breakfast worth getting up for and although we did not have the opportunity to dine there, it smelt fabulous. We only wish we had more than one night there to take advantage of some horse riding. Great location for the Golden Circle. Definitely recommend for its charm, comfort, and location.

We stayed one night at Eldhestar while going down south! Even though booking.com messed up our reservation, it took under a minute before we was in our room! Great, spacious rooms, very clean and we had our own door so we could go out at night to watch the northern lights! Very friendly staff which gave us excellent service during all of our stay! Breakfast was great, fantastic beer in the bar in evening! Would highly recommend!

This hotel looks a little like a Drive In Motel. We visited it as part of a tour and when we drew up we were a little underwhelmed. How wrong could we be!
The welcome was warm and friendly and the rooms of a good size with the best beds we had the pleasure to sleep in in Iceland.
All the rooms are given the names of horses and their history is framed by the door.
An even better surprise was the excellent food. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and dinner was as good as any we had in the best city hotels.
There are two outside hot tubs, free WiFi and wake up calls if the Northern Lights make their appearance. Unfortunately it was raining when we were there so we had to wait another couple of days before we saw the lights.
To sum it up - if you are booked to stay here you will love it.
If you have a chance to stay here - take it and enjoy!

Stayed for 2 nights here, even managing to glimpse the Northern Lights out of the window of our room!
Breakfast basic but fine both days, but wasn't expecting anything else. We did not eat our evening meals here just because there was more choice in nearby Hveragerði with the restaurants and great bakery there.
Staff helpfull and friendly too, with added travel advice when the weather turned extremely windy!

Room Tip: We saw the Northern lights from a room on the Stable side of the hotel... I woud assume looking Nort...

We stayed for two nights in Hotel Eldhestar. This hotel is located just a 15-20 minutes’ walk from the city centre. The area of Hveragerði is in itself well worth a visit with its strong geothermal activity close to the Hengill volcano. The hotel is closely connected to the riding center, and we joined two tours, which is highly recommended.

But this hotel should be a good place to stay for anyone wanting to explore this exciting area on Iceland, whether on horseback, on foot or otherwise.

Reception is staffed by people who are also guides on riding tours and also have other tasks at the centre. This makes it informal and pleasant. The hotel serves good food.
