We knew we had made the right choice the moment we found the guesthouse.Smoke emitting from the ground, the sight and sound of the beautiful river. It was just something i was expecting from Iceland.
There are only a few rooms available and all of them share the same big balcony but that was not an issue for us once we stood on the balcony.the view is just amazing..
The room is small but very clean.Same goes for the toilet...Please do remember to bring your own toiletries as they only provide liquid soap.
The guesthouse has its own natural sauna,a relaxing room, a heated pool and two hot small pools(heated at 40 deg). The two hot pools....ahhh... what can i say?Just the perfect place to be..dipping just next to the river with a beautiful setting..It was november and it snowed as we were dipping in the poolwhich made the experience even more special..even our 4 yr old daughter enjoyed being in the pool. You can still enjoy a dip at night as you get to enjoy looking at the clusters of stars...millions of em..something you cant see in the city.
At breakfast, you can cook your egg outside with the help of the geothermal heat from the grd..My lil one enjoyed going"fishing" with her egg despite the cold.

The only issue we had was the wifi connection..It was not strong even though we stayed closest to the reception. At times,we even got disconnected. But with that view,we didnt care much!

We will definitely be back if we decide to stay in Hveragerdi again!

Room Tip: Ask for the room closest to the reception.it has more windows overlooking the river.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your kind and informative review. It is important for future travelers to be able to read about different experiences and make their choice based on that. To be able to sit in a hot tub among the stars and in the quietness is just something else, and you were lucky to have the snow fall as well. Just magical.
We are sorry about the internet connection, but sometimes we have to restart the router to stable the connection.
We thank you for your stay, wish you a lovely winter and hope to see you back one day.

Best regards from Hveragerði, Iceland

Stayed for just 1 night - but will be back!
This is the best guest house I have ever stayed in. Lovely room, with balcony overlooking the river. The geothermic heated outdoor pool and hot tub were great to relax in looking up at the stars and the snow. Robes and pool shoes are provided The food in the restaurant was so amazing - simply cooked but exceptional quality and flavour, and huge portions. Breakfast was great as well - and cooking your own eggs outside in a hot spring was fun. The staff were lovely and friendly too. Great value for money.

The only way to describe this hotel is enchanting! It's hard to describe what it is like sitting in a hot tub at night next to a river and across from snowcapped moutains. Hot springs are popping up everywhere! The hotel provides shoes and robes to wear out to the pool.
The rooms are very nice, the staff is wonderful and helpful-a lovely young woman brought us extra pillows on a freezing November nite-she had to go outside in her PJs to get to our room!
The restaurant is charming and would be a 5 star in Boston. Food was amazing, presentaion beautiful. This is really a gem not to be missed in Iceland.

Dear Guests.

We can not thank you enough for your lovely review. It is really important for us to know how our guests experience their stay with us, both the good things as well as the things that we can improve. The nature around is amazing and in the summer it is even possible to swim in the warm river ! Truly wonderful, even for us the locals.

We would like to thank you for your stay and we hope to see you again when you come back to Iceland.

Best regards from Hveragerði

We spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel. The rooms were quite basic (we had a double and sofa bed for our 2 children) but what made this hotel special was the location and friendliness of the staff. We loved spending time in the hot tubs overlooking the river and numerous hot springs which bubbled away... it was really quite surreal ! Even the outdoor pool was very hot ! Breakfasts were included and very good... including the chance to cook your own egg outside over a hot pit. It is now possible to get dinner in the evening too and we found the food to be very good.

We did a fabulous walk up to the hot stream in the mountains. The walk starts about 10 minutes (by car) from the hotel. The path winds its way up the mountain through the snow and after an hour we reached a hot river. The thermally heated river was a delight for us all to laze in and admire the spectacular scenery around. It was freezing cold getting out but worth it for the time in the river!

We did not see the northern lights while staying at this hotel but would not have missed this hotel on our trip around Southern Iceland.

It is good to see that you got a nice weather that allowed you to explore the surroundings of the Hotel, which can be quite magical even for us who spend most of the year here. Our staff is just wonderful and I will make sure to let them know about your kind words towards them.

Brilliant place. We had a complimentary upgrade of our room, which was really great. Sitting in the hot tub under the stars was fabulous, even if the northern lights didn't show! Cooking your own breakfast eggs in the hot pit in the earth is an experience not to be missed. Friendly staff, great food, whilst the rooms are quite basic, they are very clean and well presented, and have all that you need.

Our favourite hotel of those we stayed in during our visit to Iceland.
