The hotel is not much to look at from the outside at but the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. I took advantage of booking online and getting the 30% discount for payment in advance. Front office staff at the Herad were friendly and helpful when we asked questions. If they didn't know they looked things up on the computer. We looked at the menu in the hotel and thought it was rather pricey and walked to the nearby Neilson restaurant which was warm and cosy and had a more reasonably priced menu. Would recommend both hotel and Neilson restaurant.

Not particularly attractive from the outside but typical hotel. Our room was fine, slightly larger than many, but there were no kettle, tea or coffee provisions provided. The restaurant menu looked very expensive so we went to Cafe Neilsen as recommended by others on trip advisor and had a lovely meal. We did each have a drink in the hotel bar on our return - a Baileys and a Kahlua cost about £7 so we were pleasantly surprised as had heard that alcohol was really expensive. There was a good selection avalable for breakfast, including fresh fruit. Ideally situated for a stop-over when travelling round the island.

Stayed one night. Recently built hotel, very pleasant room and bathroom. Staff totally friendly, efficient and helpful. Restaurant not cheap but food excellent. Wine outrageously priced as it appears to be in all Icelandic restaurants. However you will find an excellent sensibly priced off licence, like it used to be in the UK, just metres away for a pre dinner glass. Overall a very good hotel. Nothing to do in the town.... but do try the little coffee shop and see how the locals do it....

Room Tip: If it's summer ask for a northern side room. Keep that daylight out

We have stayed at Icelandair Herald as part of our trip around Iceland. The hotel itself looks like any other chain hotel - very convinient and has everything you need for a comfortable night sleep. Make sure your room is not accessible as it stinks (shower) and you would not be able to stay in that room.
Breakfast is was the best out of all breakfasts we had in Iceland. You can make your own pancakes there. Nice!
For dinner I would recomend to visit guest house literally opposite Icelandair hotel - we left our car and walked there for dinner. Locally grown lamb was melting as soon as we were biting it.....

Room Tip: Make sure you are not in accessible room - shower stinks

Rooms were very nice and comfortable, but nothing special. The breakfast buffet, however, was fabulous with too many options to count! Very much enjoyed our stay here.

This hotel room was very basic but had the neccesities. It was modern and clean. It has a great restaurant and the hotel bar has a happy hour. We had the reindeer steaks at the restaurant and they were delicious. The lobster soup was also very yummy as well.
