Hiked to the top and the view of the crater is gorgeous. The view of the valley/lake is also gorgeous. There are bathrooms at the bottom. What else can I say about a 1km diameter crater? Oh yeah, u wish I had of taken my running shoes to do a jog or two around the rim.

If you are in the Mývatn region, then this is a must. A large tephra cone with commanding views of the whole area. Road in is unsealed, take care. Walk up to the top is easy at fisrt and then gets quite steep. OK if you're fit, but some were panting heavily. Full walk around the rim would take an hour, but only if you're dedicated. Volcanic experience worth doing.

This is where you can walk up to the top of a volcanic crater! There's a carpark at the base where you can begin the climb. First half is a gradual climb but second half is more steep but still easily achievable. At the top you can walk round the crater & for the more adventurous into the crater too!

This is a crater that you can walk around. However you will need to climb to the top first. It is steep in places. Wear sturdy shoes and bring your camera. Great views from above.

There is a free car park at the bottom. Enjoy the steep walk up to the top of the crater. The sides are very vertical so don’t venture off the path or you will fall down the side! The view from the top is spectacular, and you get a great view of the whole area of Lake Myvatn. If you have more time you can walk around the edge of the crater.
