“Farm at your table”

We're going back- great food with views of baby lambs romping in the field with their mothers and cows in the barn in the other section. Made it slightly difficult to enjoy the amazing hot sliced lamb, but we got over it. Farmers plate was a great sampler including home made cheese, smoked fish and smoked lamb. Their hverabakad bread is a terrific version of the traditional local brown bread baked in geothermally heated ground ovens.

The Cowshed had marvelous food! We had smoked salmon and lamb shanks. Ice cream bread dessert. Then we photographed the cows in the attached shed. Awesome!

The Cow Shed has excellent food! We ate smoked salmon appetizer and lamb shank. Dessert was ice cream with rye bread. Then we photographed the cows in the shed attached to the restaurant. Awesome!

“Fresh food, lovely view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014 via mobile

The cafe is a working farm and we did see the cows separated by plexiglass, which was certainly unique. When you walk in, you are hit with the cow smell immediately but we found we became used to it very quick. It wasn't even noticeable after the first few moments. We sat by the windows and watched the sheep and their little ones run around. I chose poorly by ordering the fresh mozzarella plate. While fresh, the food was bland. I asked for vinegar which really made the dish way more enjoyable. Husband chose much better with the burger that was delicious. We also shared the lava cake, snickers cake, and Apple cake - all which were homemade and very tasty. As an accompaniment, husband had a glass of farm milk which he thought was the best he ever tasted. We recommend a stop and felt we received a lot of food for the price. We had the mozzarella platter, burger, two hot chocolates, a shot of Angelica schnapps, and three slices of cake which cost us about $100.

“Something a bit different!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

The food here was excellent. Really good range of dishes on the menu served to a very good quality. Staff were really friendly also. But, the real draw to this place is the actual 'cow shed' attached to the restaurant which you can see through a large glass window. At this time of year it was also really cute to see the newly born calves. Although we didn't arrive at milking time, I beleive if you come either early morning or evening, you can watch the cows being milked. I'd definitely recommend this place.
