Had a three course meal here as part of an organised trip with Saga tours.
The service was friendly and staff spoke excellent English and even invited us to go in with the cows.
We had the 3 course dinner which included dishes made with the milk from the very cows! The food was delicious! I would recommend the cow shed for a meal or quick refreshment stop at any time of day! They served the best skyr in all Iceland and the homemade ice cream came highly recommended.

The is a quirky restaurant – there’s actually a viewing area where you can see the cows in the shed while you eat! There’s a bank of floor-to-rafters windows, which offers wonderful views of Lake Mývatn – the restaurant is situated right beside the lake. We enjoyed our lunch - I especially liked their specialty bread. My husband found the beef in his stew just a little on the tough side. But overall, the quality of the food was great. There’s a homey atmosphere here and the staff is very welcoming – it was wonderful to come in after hiking in the rain.

Good food when we had dinner here. We had the Arctic char to start which was good, but the ensuing roast leg of lamb was absolutely amazing. Dessert was a skyr with fresh blueberries.

The feature of the place is a large glass bay giving you a view of some gently giants in the shape of cows. This somewhat different setting is intriguing, to say the least. The other 2/3 of the restaurant give you a nice view of the lake, though morning mists will make that somewhat less exciting if you are a guest and have breakfast here.

In fact, I have to give credit to what was a very nice breakfast the next morning. The various local cheeses were a real joy.

Overall one of the single best dishes of our Iceland trip. The rest was correct though overpriced, even by Icelandic standards. Breakfast was very good.

Our tour brought us to the Vogafjos Restaurant for lunch in late October. The meal was truly remarkable! My wife and I shared memorable smoked char and pan-seared char meals. All of the food seemed to come from the farm, even the salad ingredients. A delicious beer was brewed in nearby Akureyri. The service was friendly and relaxed - just what two tired tourists needed. We would go out of our way to return to this restaurant.

My wife and I were visiting Myvatn and staying at the lodge and following the recommendation of the extremely helpful receptionist decided to eat dinner at the restaurant. And we were glad we did! The food was simply outstanding. We had some truly wonderful meals during our stay in Iceland, but this was up there as one of the best. We both had the lamb for the main course and it was probably the finest, tastiest, most succulent piece of lamb I have ever had! The starters and desert we had were both outstanding, but the lamb was so good I honestly can’t remember what we had. Aside from the great food, the service was good and the setting for the restaurant is lovely – great views outside and the views into the cow-shed are a lot of fun. We also had breakfast here the following morning as part of our accommodation package and the breakfast was out of this world. Amazing selection, and very very helpful staff who explained everything despite clearly being extremely busy. The jams, cheeses and breads were worth the visit alone! Try the geiser bread, with the rhubarb jam and the smoked arctic char.
