You take a nice trek across the rocky debris field to reach a fork in the path, you can take the long way or the short way. The upper falls are beautiful, the lower falls are spectacular, the roar of the water and the spray coming up, you can feel the power of the water as it goes over, There are paths that lead right up to the edge, Be careful, the rocks and moss along the edge can be slippery and there are no railings.

Awesome waterfall and well worth the drive in from the main highway..be sure to take the right road to get to the west side of the falls...thats were the parking, paths and facilities are.
The falls are about a 15 minute drive on a paved road from the main highway. Lots of free parking and there are WC facilities at the parking lot. From the parking lots its a 10-15 walk to the falls..mostly flat ground..there is second, smaller falls upstream that ypu can also walk to....its a truly awesome display and not to be missed

I don't know if we got the trip wrong, we ended up on the east side and there were people on the west side. We had to drive about 15km on a gravel track to get here. It may be easier to drive down from Husavik.

You will be shocked by the power and energy of this waterfall. We loved it...and of course like most of the waterfalls there was a little hike to get to the best picture-taking place! Worth it though.

Stunning, stunning waterfall. The power and the noise - I could have spent hours just watching it. The guidebooks say to use the eastern road but we found that the route to the western side has recently been upgraded and took this to a decent car park. It's only an amater opinion but I think the view is better from the west side is probably better.

It is also well worth taking the short path (10-15 minutes) to Selfoss. In the UK this would be an attraction all of it's own, here it was a fantastic bonus.
