Very friendly host which gave us lot of useful information about attractions nearby.
Huts with heated floor, well equipped kitchen and perfect beds.
For us the only choice if we will visit this area in future.

Modern clean wooden huts on the lake shore, The rooms are tiny with a shower, but very clean and functional. The cabins have a shared kitchen where you can cook. The location and scenery are unforgettable, very peaceful and beautiful. A good base for exploring the area. Very pleasant friendly staff and fantastic breakfast. Very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

We entered this hostel by chance. The hostel consist of a few wood hut. Each two huts connected together with a small kitchen and shears toilet and shower.
The huts are clean and basic, but not to small.
The view of the lake, especially from the first row of huts is beautiful.
The hostel staff is very nice.
Prices are very reasonable.
Recommended!

Room Tip: try to get a hut in the first row of huts, with view to thw lake

We stayed there 2 nights and I regret we did not stayed more. It is amazing place with great views of the lake and delicious breakfast which was included in the price. The breakfast included home-made smoked trout and home-made rhubarb jam. Both were excellent. We stayed in rooms with shared kitchen. Room was big with huge wall-wide window which faced the lake. There was shower and toilet in the room. Kitchen is big with living room next to it. It's definitely worth the money!

We had a wonderful two-night stay in August 2013. The location could not be more beautiful and the staff is welcoming and friendly (and that includes the two hilarious border collies who welcome all guests). We had a delicious dinner on our cabin porch of the house-smoked trout and house-smoked lamb. They were incredibly delicious and perfect with a bottle of wine. (Note: Iceland has strict alcohol laws. The guesthouse sells airplane size bottles of wine and near-beer, but that's all to be found unless you want to drive 45 minutes to the next large town.) Breakfast was fantastic and the location was perfect for the region. Re the negative review from the French visitor: there was nothing wrong with the plumbing. (All over Iceland the water smells like sulfur because it is heated geothermally. One would learn that if one spent more time there.)

Room Tip: The cabins are cozy and lovely but most (all?) have shared bathrooms so you'll have to step outside in the middle of the night if you need the WC. You're only sharing with the cabin next door so this isn't a big issue, but something to note. The other type of room is more like a hotel in that it has is own bathroom but it doesn't have the same charm as the log cabin.
