This is one of the most unforettable places I have ever stayed. Once you've gotten over the stunning views over the Kastoria lakes and checked in you'll soon fall for the wonders inside. Every inch of the lobby, sitting room and dining room of Vissinokipos is home to a fascinating trinket, knick-knack or objet d'art thoughtfully chosen by Costas, sitting side by side his own unique artwork and sculptures. The bedrooms are clean, crisp, cozy and more on the minimal side but that is not a bad thing as you'll want to enjoy the balcony view or lounge downstairs by the fireplace or exploring the art and amazing library of books. The soundtrack provided by Costas eclectic music collection is the perfect accompaniment. Breakfast is a sumptious smorgosbord of eggs, fruit, cakes, bread and homemade jams and preserves. While Kastoria itself has many worthy sights Vissinokipos is in itself worth a trip to the town. A very special place.

We have just returned from our trip to Kastoria for the weekend and our stay for one night, on Saturday 1st Dec 2012 in room B4 in Vissinokipos, which was a great experience. To start with, looking at the external of the building does not predispose you for what you are going to find inside. The (2- floored plus ground floor) building used to be two appartments and it is totally indifferent on the outside except for the stunning view to the lake of Kastoria, which is breathtaking. Once you enter in the reception area though, you find yourself in a wonderful sitting and dining area, which is really artistic. This is not strange if you consider that the owner himelf is a painter and the building is full of his works plus his thousands of books. You must take a look at the pictures in the web page of the Guest House because my descprition will only be quite unfair. What I can assure you of , is the wonderful music you will listen to, all day long, because believe me you will not wish to leave the guesthouse and the delicious breakfast they will offer you with home made marmalades and pies, fresh eggs and a great variety of local cheese and salami. The room is big, spotless clean but with basic furniture and the bathroom rather oldfashioned athough renovated. We did not mind it becaused everything else was gorgious. This is the reason I do not rate the guest house with 5 stars. We paid 60 EU for the room including the generous breakfast. I will definately stay there again and I will recommend it to all of my friends as well.
