Very knowledgeable guide that also was able to answer many questions. Spoke very good English. Very good equipment and good driver. Even dropped us off at a restaurant we wanted to go to that was near our normal drop off point.

It was so great, it's a five hour train ride from central Athens departing at 8.20, the return is at 5.30pm, meteora was so beautiful, it was like going back in time, so picturesque, and the guide, Chris was great and funny

We took 2 days tour, including round trip train tickets from Athens - Kalambaka, but booked the hotel on our own.

For the sunset tour, we visited 3 monasteries but only entered one, which was St. Stephens monastery. We made a lot of stops for taking pictures and explanation about the places. Our guide, Flori, was very friendly and provided very good explanation.

The next day, we took the hiking tour. But since it was a little bit drizzle in the morning, they customed the hiking tour to be shorter. But it's still a really 2,5 hours nice walk going down from Varlaam Monastery. Our guide, Kristo, was really good in telling stories along our walk.

Overall, we had enough free time to explore the monasteries and the Byzantine Church.

After the tour ended, we still had a couple of hours before catching the train back to Athens. We walked around the city and left the luggage at the Meteora Thrones office, which was only 5 minutes away from the train station.

Most stores are closed around 2 pm and open again in the evenings. But most restaurants and taverns are open most of the time.

Overall, the tours and our guides were really great!

It was not a good experience. Highly Not recommended. One star is only for our guide. The train got delayed and we were only got into two monasteries. We know is not anyone’s fault that the train was 50 mins late. However, we got told at the last minute that we could not get in to one of the monasteries since the road was blocked due to over capacity. We were schedule to a museum instead which was wasted of our time. If you are looking for Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron or Monastery of Varlaam or any other monasteries, please do not join the tour. It is much better do it yourself. You are not getting what you paid for (around 92 euro per person).

My daughters and I had the most amazing hiking tour with Christof. He was a delight! Kept us safe as some of the downhill trek was slippery due to a recent rainfall, had great stories, pointed out local fauna and floral and educated us about the monasteries. I highly recommend doing this tour and try to book with Christof. This is the best way to experience meteora monasteries.
