“Friendly and central”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

I have recently spent 8 days at the Gythion Hotel and cannot praise it more highly. Hearty breakfasts of fresh orange juice, egg, bread and homemade jams, cheese and coffee were provided. The rooms look out over the bay and the staff are the friendliest I have ever met.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony. It's worth the extra cost.

The Gythion hotel is up a flight of stairs off the main street in Gythion and is a pleasant surprise once one has got there. The rooms are large and the bathroom though small is spotless and everything works. We had a little balcony overlooking the main street which is noisy but the doors are double glazed. Breakfast was very good with fresh orange juice, very good bread from the bakery downstairs and superb jam! This hotel is for people who like oldfashioned hotels with quirky features and historical interest. We would definitely stay there again. The owner and staff are delightful with very good English

Really well placed.
People caring of you, breakfast with a table reserved for you and genuine ingredients.
Great sight, 10 mt from the sea. We got up early in the morning and enjoied a wonderful sunshine (photo posted).
Rooms a bit aged but clean.

This is a really traditional hotel (not "traditional-like" in a beautiful small town in the south of Peloponnese! A fantastic view of the small harbor, with a very welcoming breakfast including incredibly innovative home made marmalades (e.g. aubergine!) and very friendly staff! Huge rooms (with rather small WC/Shower rooms)... Beware: you have to carry your luggage to the first floor...

This little hotel is located on the pier of Gythion. It is quite small (only 4 or 5 rooms), with an old-fashionned vibe, but very welcoming.

The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings. Unfortunately, the bathroom was a bit of disappointment, with barely warm water during our stay. We were warned when we arrived it would take some time to get hot water in the shower, but even after letting the water run 15 mins it never really warmed up. I ended up washing my hair in the sink.
The bathroom products (soap and shampoo) were also very basic.

On the other hand, the owners were lovely and gave us good tips regarding places to go/restaurants. Among others, they told us to check out the restaurant called Poulikakos, located on the square a few minutes away: the food was incredible, we went there 2 nights in a row.

The breakfast was very nice and home made, with fresh juice and cake every day.
There is no private parking available but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot in the area. I'm not sure it'd be the same during summer / peak season.

Overall, this hotel is ok, as it is pretty cheap (around 40 EUR/night for 2) but the amenities should really be upgraded.

Really big room where there was lots of space to pull up a couple of suitcases and still move freely. A very high ceiling too. Shower where the water is not poured out over the toilet and the floor (which otherwise is so common in Greece). Great friendly staff who gave tips on restaurants, bars and more. Perfect location right on the quay in the middle of town Small balcony facing the water. Simple but nice breakfast with good bread, nice coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.

My wife and stayed in this hotel from 24th to 30th Aug 2011 and used it as a base to explore the Mani area of the Peloponnes. The hotel is in an old converted and elegant building and the room was large ,well equipped and ours had a small balcony overlooking the harbour. It is a small hotel ..about 6 rooms ( some with balconies ) and a few apartments . The location was really good for us..straight out of the front door, down a few steps and you were on the harbourside with restaurants etc ( no restaurant in the hotel ..just basic breakfast). The staff were bright friendly and very helpful. An enjoyable stay.
