“a family paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

Stayed at the hotel for 6 days in July 2011 with my husband and our children -6 and 12 years old. We had one of our most relaxing and cool vacation of the last 5 years. The beach is just in front of our balcony with a well-equipped beach-bar for beers,coffees,ice-creams,club-swanditches etc all day long.Few steps away there was a really nice water-sports instructor and the kids spent the time of their lives there.Restaurant with delicious menu .Very rich breakfast with local tasts as well(kids loved it). An impressive swimminng-pool with an olive-tree surrounding that relaxes even the worst hard-working client. The whole area is very safe for kids,so, we didn't worry about anything.Kids wander arount the hotel all alone. Very polite staff.A real private paradise.

Old hotel but well renovated with rooms that all have quite an interesting view of the nearby beach.Breakfast with quality and international variety plus local products. Our stay would be much better if we were lucky enough to avoid a wedding ceremony that did not allow us to sleep.Hotel's personel although polite did almost nothing to remove cars from tennis court that was used as parking area due to the wedding. The restaurant is very good.Normal prices are quite high but you can find substantially lower offers.

The hotel is situated at a very beautiful bay near Gythion, nevertheless very far away from civilization and the noises thereof. That was the reason I chose it - and that is why I was very satisfied with my choice and the hotel in general. It's a wonderful place to find some peace and relaxation from everyday routine. The hotel may be an old building, but it was renovated and very nice (according to my taste), the rooms were clean and very elegantly decorated. According to a previous reviewer it seems that I also stayed at a renovated room, but I believe that, at the time of my stay (May 2011), probably all rooms were already refurnished.
The outdoors of the hotel are mostly what's worth of: the beach, the garden, the cafe in the garden and the swimming pool (which was closed in May, but it definitely looked very tempting!). My room had a sea view and I definitely recommend you to ask for it. Rooms are equipped with a small, but adequate flat TV with a DVB-T, split-type A/C's, free WiFi (just ask for the passcodes at the reception). Bathroom was also clean and of acceptable quality. Buffet breakfast was rich (for Greek hotel standards) - even though the hotel had only a few guests. The food prepared for dinner was also very nice at the hotel's restaurant. Staff was very polite and helpful.
The minuses now:
1. Very thin walls... Even though the hotel was not crowded, we could hear the noises from the next room, where a family with children stayed. The hotel management should do something about this, since in August, when the hotel would be full, things could certainly get out of hand.
2. Plumbing needs some tuning. There is hot water all the time, but due to weak circulation it turns from hot to cold and vice-versa (until the hot water pump starts working again) - you can imagine what that means while taking your bath.
Besides these two facts I was very satisfied with the hotel and I definitely recommend this for a weekend escape with your second half, but also for a family holiday (the garden and the beach would be great for young kids), as long as you have a car and you don't mind driving to the next civilized area! If on the other hand you're seeking for ouzo, bouzouki, "opa" and various other aspects of Greek night-life, I suggest you reconsider...

Room Tip: The sea-view rooms are definitely a must. Ask for them.

Old hotel, they didn't respect us.
They said they have buffet breakfast but instead we were served a very basic things in the room because they didn't want to open the restaurant for only a few guests.
The people working in the hotel and the owners were very unpolite except from the hotel in reception.
One of our rooms was very nice. The other one was bad

We stayed there last May (2011) with another couple of friends.
The location was very nice, quiet and peaceful.
The hotel facilities were pretty satisfying, pool, beach bar, beach chairs, plenty of space in the living room to play some table and card games.
The hotel staff was very helpful apart from a rude middle-aged gentleman at the front desk.
In conclusion, the hotel rooms should not be paid for more than 60-65 euros per night.

A hotel that seemed to have been abandoned and left with a skeleton staff who had to rush around doing everything; only a few guests, restaurant shut, big cavernous reception area abandoned like the marie celeste! Lovely site facing out onto a beautiful bay, though a long way out of town which makes you reliant on rather limited menu provided at small beach-side bar in the evening.
Room we were provided with hadn't been cleaned and we had to ask for a transfer to another room.

My wife booked at this hotel after having explicitly searched/discussed/agreed which
rooms we would be staying (in relation to orientation/wind etc). Not only we did not stay
at the pre-agreed rooms, but we were given the worst rooms (in terms of orientation)...

Then again, not the whole of the room was renovated, the balcony had safety issues,
the a/c external units were all placed at the facade of the hotel (making noise and producing heat), the owner was not very accommodating... We wanted to leave but where to find 4 rooms for 5 days (commencing right on) in Greece during August?

Anyhow, the service is good, the breakfast quite good, the food ok, the pool nice...
