I say that because it is a neat hotel, with nice grounds. The history and ambiance are nice and if you go and see the hotel and your aren't staying there you WANT to stay there. So , you have to stay at least once just to get it out of your system. If you are a first timer to Eureka Springs be aware, this is not a 5 star town. You will pay a lot for your room, we paid over $300, and you won't get a lot for it. Upon checkin the front desk man was rude and sarcastic. However, the bellman was very nice. The hotel is old, creaky, and has lost most its historical details. The rooms are shabby, uncomfortable and slightly dingy but I think that's par for the course for most placed in ES. The hotel does host a lot of weddings, if you have the misfortune of staying in a room above the reception room, good luck, you will be up until 12:30 listening to the latest top 40 songs. Also bad? Lots of families with kids, which means kids screaming and running up and down the halls and stairs. Doors are constantly slamming and you can hear people's tv's. Also bad? The ghost tours, crowds of people roaming through the halls sometimes they park right outside your room rattling on and on about alleged ghost sightings.

A few good notes, dr. bakers bar is fun and the view from the deck is gorgeous. Sitting on your balcony--a balcony room is a must--is also a great way to relax. Also good is their Sunday Brunch lots of good options and relatively cheap. I don't recommend the Crystal Dining room for dinner though, overpriced and boring.

I took a whole group of girls to stay there for my birthday and we had a great time!
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly! We took the ghost tour which was
fun but also a nice little history !

We were extremely disappointed with this place! The furniture was beat looking. The comforter had a big disgusting spot on it. The worn carpet was fifthy and had hair pins on it (not vaccumed) The bathroom was a stepup that was maybe two feet wide and four long. It had cracked and broken missing tiles on the floor. We paid $200 for this rat hole! The location was lovely which the only nice thing that I can say.

We chose this hotel because of it's history & ghost tours. We paid more than we would usually spend for a hotel, but figured it was worth the splurge. We were wrong. We booked a King room online, but when we got there were told that they had sold out all of their King rooms & were downgraded to a Queen room at the SAME PRICE. All we were offered in compensation was a coupon for 20% off of our next stay. It the hotel's literature it states specifically EACH GUEST ROOM COMES WITH 2 WAR EAGLE MILL BREAKFAST BUFFETS SERVED IN OUR CRYSTAL DINING ROOM RESTAURANT. No restrictions are listed in the fine print. However, when we enquired on how to receive this, we were told that since we booked online that we had to pay $9.95 each for the breakfast buffet. We felt that we were blatantly lied to and no atttempt to compensate was made by the staff-they seemed completely indifferent. With so many other lovely places to stay in Eureka Springs, I could not in good conscience recomment the 1886 Crescent Hotel. In my opinion, it is not an ethically run establishment and takes advantage of its guests. I would, however, recommend the ghost tour. That was great and totally worth the price, just stay someplace else!

For the most part, this was a nice hotel to stay at, it had charm and character. The bad part, since we were on the third floor (room 317) it was noisy as all hell (on both nights of our stay) until the bar closed. Next time my wife and I stay here, we would want a room on the second floor or a room not under the bar/lounge.
