My family just spent 2 wonderful nights at the Cliff Cottage Inn, in the Sarah Bernhardt Suite. We have visited many cities and countries on our travels, and stayed in some wonderful hotels, but this place has left us with some of the best memories of all. The Bernhardt Suite is large, with a king size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa in the front sitting room. You enter the suite by a door off the front porch (which is a great place to sit, day or night, overlooking the town below), and step into the front sitting room. In addition to the sleeper sofa, the room has a table and a couple of chairs in the window for sitting in the A/C with a glass of your favorite beverage. The bedroom opens off the sitting room, and the bathroom is in the rear of the house, with a large 2-person jacuzzi tub. The suite is beautifully decorated in period furnishings, quaint, but very comfortable. The back door opens onto a cozy wooden deck that butts up to a rock bluff in back of the house. This is a lovely area to sit and have your breakfast in the morning, delivered by the Elf himself. The breakfast one morning consisted of bananas foster, a unique version of french toast, sausage links, a rich chocolate/cheesecake muffin, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The second morning it was Mexican-themed, with a mexican omelette/souffle - mmmmm! And it's all topped off with Sondra's own private stash of Costa Rican coffee. I can not recommend this place enough - the hostess is the most delightful person, with recommendations for restaurants and area activities that were perfect - the inn is quaint, cozy, elegant, and restful.
P.S. Don't miss the Ghost Tours at the Crescent Hotel...it is one of America's most haunted places (one of Sondra's recommendations). The Sci Fi Channel was filming an episode of their series, Ghost Hunter when we were there, and we took the tour the following evening. It is a lot of fun!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- CLIFF COTTAGE INN is the only B&B Inn in the very heart of Eureka Springs' Historic Downtown/Restaurant District with 3 separate adjacent beautifully restored historic cottages. Each cottage has 2 large private-entrance suites, all with Jacuzzis, private decks or balconies, and some with fireplaces. The inn also has one individual stand-alone historic cottage with private outdoor hot tub, large living room overlooking town, fully-equpped kitchen, deck. Guests only have to walk 17 steps down to Main Street and all the shops and restaurants. Once you arrive and park in your pre-assigned reserved off-street parking space, you never have to drive again... a real bonus in this tiny hilly village where parking is almost non-existent downtown. CLIFF COTTAGE INN is also the only inn with an elf-delivered gourmet breakfast brought to all the Jacuzzi suites and complimentary Champagne or white wine chilled and waiting in your fridge! Free WIFI is available at the main inn. Perfect for anniversaries, birthday celebrations, honeymoons, Gals' Spa/Shopping Getaways, and just because you want a really special place to share quality time with your beloved. ((And, says the inn elf with a mischievous smile, "You won't have to walk over a mile to get downtown and then up steep hills to get back to your lodging, and you won't have to drive around for hours hunting for non-existent parking downtown!" ... more less
