Hubby and I stayed at The Lodge which is located right next door to the Route 62 Diner. We walked next door for a late breakfast arriving at around 10:00. Virgil, our waiter, greeted us at the door, and we seated ourselves in a booth. Virgil brought the menu and took our drink orders. He came back quickly with our drinks, and we placed our orders. Hubby got the chicken fried steak breakfast with 2 over easy eggs, hash browns, and biscuit and gravy. I ordered the Supreme Omelette which contained bacon, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. It was accompanied by hash browns and biscuit and gravy. Virgil put our order in and then returned to bus tables of those diners who had left. He was very personable and carried on quite pleasant conversation.
Hubby said that his chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly. It was well-seasoned and delicious. His eggs were cooked perfectly. The hash browns were of the shredded variety and were cooked and seasoned well. Biscuit and sausage gravy was very good.
My omelette was INCREDIBLE! It had whole strips of bacon in addition to pieces of bacon and huge hunks of flavorful sausage. The veggies were sautéed and added wonderful flavor to the 3 egg omelette. It was a HUGE portion and kept me full for the whole day of sightseeing and shopping.
When you visit Eureka Springs, you owe it to yourself, your taste buds, and your pocketbook to visit with Virgil at Route 62 Diner.
