The Runeberg's home is quite much at its original state. We had a nice quick guidance to its history. Not too big house, I mean quickly seen, but the garden is also historical. There is a small playing corner for the children at the yard. It was actually really nice. It's a short walk from Taidetehdas.

J.L Runeberg is one of the most famous traditional Finnish authors. The writer home is very well maintained and has quite a few interesting facts about the author. The museum also has a small cafe with traditional pastries made based on recepies from the authors wife

I've loved Runeberg ever since I heard some of his poems which had been set to music by Sibelius on an ancient album of Kirsten Flagstad. They had been adapted for orchestra from the original piano accompaniment and both the music and words excited me so much.

I went back to the Runeberg Home after not having been there for many years. It's a worthwhile pilgrimage for someone like me, certainly, but also really interesting for anyone interested in the culture and history of Finland.

It's easy to get to Porvoo/Borgå from Helsinki and I recommend a trip to this charming town anyway with a visit to the Home and the other attractions here.

The site is the home of Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland. There you'll see how he lived and how his wife Fredrika took care of their garden. This is for you who are interested in culture, history, writing or petry.

I can fully recommend to visit the Runeberg Home. Runeberg is one of the most important writers of Finland. He also wrote the text of the Finish national anthem .
A nice guide gave us some extra information, told us all about Runeberg and knew some anecdotes of his life.
Don't miss to try the famous Runeberg Cake! It's available for example in Cafe Fanny.
Every year in February 5th, there's a big festival for Runeberg Day.
