This hotel is rated as a four star but misses basic requisites. Aside from the rooms, which have been renovated and are comfortable (although furniture already looks worn out and I had only cold water 2 days out of 6), hotel grounds look shabby and uninviting. The restaurant is dirty and unappealing, with waiters that do not pay any attention to guests. There is a garden but the lawn is patchy and unkempt. Internet connection is poor with frequent interruptions, and yet one has to pay for it at the rate of 10 USD per day. And it is very noisy. Definitely to avoid.

Located in the adjacent district of Kathmandu i.e. Lalitpur, Hotel Himalaya can be termed as a decent, clean, service oriented and with modern aminities hotel. We have had a history of staying here, on some work or other, and starting from room size, location, housekeeping to check in/out procedures are above average. Though they claim themselves to be 4 star, however to be fair atmost I would rate it 3+ star. The only major grouse I have is the food, which is I must stay is way below average, and needs a major revamp. The breakfast array is rather limited with a 99% probability of finding most of the items almost finished if you happen to hit the breakfast room after 10:00 AM. In addition even the food served at lunch, dinner or ala carte is not really inspiring, and most times tasteless and bland. Also surprisingly since last 2 years, the fitness centre is just getting constructed, but never finished. All in all a nice business hotel, at a peaceful location with decent facilities.

I certainly enjoyed my stay here, and would go again without hesitation. The staff were superb, although the people in the souvenir shop were a little over-enthusiastic to get custom. The restaurant was great, and the waiting staff were courteous and very attentive. I could not fault the quality and quantity of the food. All in all, I was made to feel very welcome.

Over all very nice and comfortable place to stay, rooms are big and clean.
breakfast is also ok.
but the only negative point in this hotel is no complementary water and no free wifi :(.

remaining thing are ok you hardly find this hotel free so please check at least 15 days before as they are very popular in kathmandu and very reasonable rates for room.

Close to Patan Darbar square this hotel is located about 30 minutes from the airport (rush hours can take 45 minutes).
Basic facilities, otherwise neat and comfortable. 5th Floor is recently upgrade. Valley view rooms are superb. Buffet breakfast is not too exciting. You can request strong tea to wake you up. Bathrooms were nice but toiletries were of poor quality.

Room Tip: I stayed in 5015 it was a nice room.

This hotel is not in Thamel which in itself is a bonus. Instead you are in very close walking distance to Pathan which is the nicest part of Kathmandu as a tourist.

The breakfast is very good, the rooms are large and have been all renovated since my first stay in 2009 (have since returned 5 times). The staff are understanding, they once let me build my moutainbike in the lobby and then clean it at the end of my stay in the car park.

During the winter, they have a generator so you will not notice the powercuts. This should not be underestimated in Kathmandu! Disappointing that the internet is an extra, otherwise this is a good hotel in Kathmandu. Especially after a very long trek as you will be sure to get a rest.

Room Tip: Think about Kathmandu's earthquake risk when selecting which floor you want to be on.

This hotel is for relaxation and rest after our treks through the Patan.

The hotel grounds are situated at the North side of the Patan Nepal and about a few minute walk from the main road. This layout of the hotel is widely spread for privacy and for the feeling you are the only guests. The grounds are well maintained and the guards keep the ground secure and even offer to walk you into the city.
