beautiful landscaped garden, sunning by the swimming pool, view of the snow capped mountains from the terraced open air dining area, and great service by the staff.
Hotel is a visual treat, thought fully maintained- even trash bins are terracotta pots- truely eco friendly. Rooms are little small but cozy. long wooden balustrades on the front verandah of both ground floor and firstfloor - Nepals traditional architechture and wood work .... in one word amazing.
staff is extremely polite & helpful, always at your service , you will find them round the clock maintaining the service. housekeeping staff are largely women ...
Overall wonderful experience , especially if you are with family on a holiday...

Room Tip: first floor rooms are better, you dont get to hear the sound of occupants from the floor above if yo...

The Summit Hotel is truly an oasis in a city of chaos. Even though we stayed in the Holland House (twin beds/ shared bathroom and shower), we had access to the beautiful grounds, swimming pool and superb restaurant. After our 27 day trek, there was an area to hang up all our gear; they thought of everything.

The staff could not be more helpful - and we certainly needed it! When one of our passports was stolen (outside the hotel) with all our money and credit cards, the hotel very nicely arranged for a car to take up to the local police station and helped out with the reporting. Over our 8 days stay while we worked on getting the necessary papers to leave, the staff always inquired how things were going, arranged for taxis and generally kept us calm. Of course the beer helped in the bar!

Perhaps my only complaint was the price of the breakfast buffet - it was more than lunch or dinner. Hmm.

We stayed in one of the 1-bedroom apartments for 4 weeks and it was a gorgeous peaceful haven!
The apartment spacious, light, well equipped with stunning views. Huge bathroom with thick white towels.
Internet connection excellent.
Big supermarket within walking distance, taxis available right at the gate. Nice restaurants at the Summit ( food excellent and service slow) and just around the corner as well as further down the road in Patan.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Perfect place to stay for business trip. ( I haven't seen the rooms)
So glad we stayed at the Summit!!

We booked to stay here on the recommendation of a friend. Sadly we only stayed 1 night here but we were welcomed and had a lovely stay. The food in the restaurant was delicious and good value. The service was excellent. The rooms were a very good standard.

I stayed here for 10 nights in a double with on suite as well as in a double with shared bathroom. I was in Kathmandu for work, a conference in central Kathmandu. I was a bit worried being all the way in Patan but it was a blessing, a haven of piece from the hustle and bustle of central Kathmandu. Very quiet, lovely helpful staff, comfortable beds and great food.

I was worried about staying in Patan, a little bit of a trek from the main attractions of Kathmandu, until I arrived at Summit Hotel. Not only is the hotel a green, peaceful haven away from the traffic and noise of the main city, but Patan has its own Durbar Square that rivals its counterpart in Kathmandu--thought I had to tear myself away from Summit's gardens to see it. If you've already had a busy vacation, it's tempting just to spend the day at the hotel, wandering around the various paths to different garden hideaways. The hotel's mountain wing might be more impressive when monsoon clouds aren't hiding the view, but if you go in the rainy season, be sure to stay in the garden wing, on the second floor to get the beamed, slanty ceilings and long, wide balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. Sheltering from a sudden downpour, I struck up a conversation with what turned out to be the hotel's friendly owner at dinner on the patio under lovely old dripping trees. True to his lead, all the staff were extremely welcoming and ready with a laugh--and with a helping hand when bank cards became uncooperative! Lots of other restaurants and shopping within a fair walking distance, but most likely you won't want to leave once you enter this haven.

Stayed here prior to a Himalayan climbing trip. It is very peaceful given the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and a real alternative to a noisy hotel in the more popular Thamel district. It is well worth the inconvenience of a 30 minute taxi to Thamel for the peace and quiet (v cheap and taxis at the gate. We booked a taxi for the day once and it cost just around GBP15 equivalent ). Food is excellent - try the chicken burger - sounds ordinary but ever so tasty! Everest beer or Tuborg available - lovely! Good breakfast with eggs cooked to order. WiFi works. I found the service excellent.
