I have just spent nearly 2 weeks here whilst working at a nearby hospital. If really is a calm peaceful oasis from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. My room was very comfortable with 2 balconies and views to the Himalayas when clear. Rooms have heaters and electric blankets which is essential in Kathmandu in December. Plenty of hot water too.

The houseboys were all extremely welcoming and helpful and made my stay all the more homely.

The food was great... Breakfast more than enough to set you up for the day and plenty of delicious options for an evening meal.

My only advice is that it can be difficult to find the first time as it is not signed... Well worth getting them to meet you at the airport if arriving for the first time.

Thank you for a great stay.... Perfect place to relax after a hard days work!

We (a group on international medical professionals and academics) stayed here for 2 weeks while working on a public health project with the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Patan Hospital. Summer Hill is a family owned guesthouse situated in a quiet residential area on top of a hill, with views of the Kathmandu hills. It's not easy to get homesick here. The owners, Purnima and Prem, are usually on site and make sure that guests are well looked after. There are several self-contained suites all tastefully decorated. The meals are prepared by a local chef, with fresh ingredients...a wonderful breakfast spread with homemade guava jam, eggs made to order, freshly prepared breads and roti. The staff are very polite, hard working, and always ready to attend to you. We ate dinner at the guest house most nights, placing an order in advance....delicious curries, mo mo, vegetarian dishes and also dishes for the western palate.

The rates are excellent...about $40/night including breakfast. We would certainly stay here again when visiting Kathmandu.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 11....it has one queen size bed....great views of the hills and courtyard.

Great place to stay in dusty Kathmandu! Small oasis next to the center. Easy to find, nice rooms, very clean guest house. Staff is very friendly. The only problem is Internet. Not always working, everytime need to ask to fix it. And it is important. But overall is great! Thank you for my beautiful stay!

We spent one night at Summerhill House, even though we initially booked for two. Coming in from Nagarkot, we didn't quite realize how difficult it would be for the taxi driver to find the place. Turns out it is quite far from Thamel, the airport, etc. It took us an hour to find the place, after multiple calls to the staff at Summerhill, who were not very helpful in being able to explain the location. The owners were away when we visited, perhaps that would have made a difference. The rooms are nice, though ours was a little dusty. The wifi didn't work while we were there, and construction was going on around which made the roads a nightmare, especially at night as there is practically no street lighting. If you plan on wrapping up your day early, or spending time in the hotel, then it's probably a good bet for you but if you're looking to use it as a base to explore Kathmandu, I wouldn't recommend it.

The town of Patan and Patan's Darbur Square is was fascinating to explore. You can walk to the center of town from the bed and breakfast. The food at the B & B was fabulous The staff looked after everything that we needed. A nice calming retreat at the end of a busy day sightseeing. Would highly recommend the B&B to others that want somewhere peaceful in Napal.
