If you are looking for wonderful Himalaya and the beautiful landscape with quiet surrounding peaceful cottage is one of the best hotel to stay. well, i was going trekking with one group of 7 volunteers, on our first night we stayed overnight at Hotel Peaceful Cottage.I wish we stayed here Even i stayed only one night at that hotel i wish i stayed there longer with my valuable guests. Because of the great hospitality from the staff and excellent mountain facing room make me and my valuable guest really happy.
Following morning before breakfast we saw spectacular mountain views and the sunrise over the snow cape mountain.

It has great location, friendly staff, Panorama view from the hotel ... what else do you need more lolz. so we always recommend to all my friends, valuable guest to this place in Nagarkot.

Manager Caron arranged for our transport service from Kathmandu and we were satisfied with the service and efficiency of Prakash.

Top most room seems due for refurbishing specially the bathroom. Carpets made the room smell musty.

Personnel were warm and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.

Really a nice place to relax. Sunrise and sunset view of the Himalayas , priceless !

We are a family of 3 from Bangalore, India and we were on vacation during our daughter's school holidays. We left for Nagarkot after spending a day walking around the dusty streets of Thamel in Kathmandu. We were advised by the hotel staff in Thamel to not spend more than a day as there's nothing much to see in Nagarkot, so we reached the place with very low expectations. As we left the awful din and dust of the capital behind us en route to Nagarkot, the weather grew increasingly pleasant as we ascended higher towards this charming little town.

The friendly staff (Anil and Ram) of Peaceful Cottage welcomed us with a warm smile and soft drinks. All valley view rooms were booked, so they offered us one on their new block which is still under construction which was initially a bit disappointing, but we decided to take it anyway, since we loved the location and their quaint organic potager. As soon as we saw the room with huge private balcony, we fell in love with it. The balconies don't offer any views, but it's so calm and serene there that you'll wake up to the sounds of whistling thrushes and other sweet bird calls every morning. We decided to extend our stay here and ended up spending 5 days in this charming place. As it was mid may during our visit there, we had to trade in mountain views (mostly hazy and cloudy) for mist and rain. Despite spending 4 nights there we could not see the majestic peaks that this place is known for, however, that little disappointment aside, we really enjoyed every single moment here.

Laxman Saha, the perpetually smiling chef, is also a great guide as we went with him on a 10 kms hike in the nearby forest and villages. He was so kind, gentle and encouraged our 9 year old daughter to complete the hike on her birthday. I would also like to thank Ram Lama, one of the staff there, who was kind enough to accompany us on our excursion to Kodari (Nepal-China border) and overnight stay at Chautara. He doesn't travel much, so the poor guy had to endure fever and cold for a day as soon we got back to Nagarkot. Ram also presented us a poster of the mighty Langtang range and fridge magnets as souvenirs, since we couldn't see the mountains even at Chautara, a place recommended by him. Thank you, Ram!

Food is sumptuous as long as you stick to the basics and not get too experimental. Their Nepali Thali (made with veggies from their potager) is a must try. Bottled water is expensive here as with any other hotel, so buy it from the local shops if you don't want to pay 3 times the MRP.

Overall, our experience was so positive that we flew back to India rejuvenated to attend my brother's wedding. Per my recommendation, my brother and his wife will be spending their honeymoon at the Peaceful Cottage and Cafe Du Mont very soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 9 days and wish we could have left after the first night. It was the most disgusting place and I felt cheated by all of the great reviews that were written on Trip Advisor. The rooms were very old and dirty. The first room we tried was musty and was very damp so we moved to another room the first night. The second room was infested with spiders and worms. I was so scared to close my eyes for fear of things crawling on me at night. My husband spent the whole night killing spiders for me. The food was awful and was very very overpriced. The hygiene was very poor as I got food poisoning on the 3 day and a doctor needed to be called in. The wi-fi was very slow and needed to be reset every day. If we were lucky, we would have electricity for a few hours a day. During the thunderstorms, the entire room would shake as if it was an earthquake. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I strongly recommend you find another hotel in Nagarkot. This hotel doesn't even have basic necessities such as a phone, tv, toiletries, A/C etc. They didn't even have hot water in the showers. We needed to go to another hotel (a new wing that they are building) to take a shower. The toilet leaked and had a horrible smell. The staff were unable to communicate well in English and it was very difficult to explain the issues with the room. Overall, this was a horrible experience for us. I will never come back to Nepal as this experience has ruined it for me.

Thank you very much for your review in tripadvisor. It means a lot to us.

We are extremely sorry to hear that you did not enjoyed your stay in our resort. At our mountain resort Peaceful Cottage & cafe du mont, we are committed to consistently providing warm, welcoming and friendly service to our guests.

1. For your gentle reminder, we are one of the oldest resort in Nagarkot and we are also realising that now is the time for renovation as the rooms and bathroom need quite renovation. This will be our top priority in this low season.

2. Nagarkot is basically a hillstation surrounded by lush jungles in all sides. As our resort is located in an open place. So, it is quiet normal to have totally non poisonous spiders and worms in the hotel as we are near to the jungle.

3. The food was awful and was very very overpriced. The hygiene was very poor as I got food poisoning on the 3 day and a doctor needed to be called in.

3. We are very careful with our kitchen hygiene and we prepare everything fresh in our kitchen. As being told by the management, you guys have also had your lunch and dinner outside the hotel in the beginning few days, so, it might be also due to this reason. All our kitchen personnels have taken the kitchen hygiene and food poisoning training and they are very alert and careful about it. But we will be more alert and careful about this coming days.

4. We have increased our speed of wifi in the rooms as well as in restaurant. So, you will definately feel the difference when you come again with the connectivity in every room. Regarding the electricity is concerned, we do have solar panels for the lighting purpose only.

5. We are going to install 24 hour hot shower in our bathrooms for this upcoming tourist season. Right now, we are limited with the solar panels only for heating water.

6. We are planning to upgrade the basic necessities such as a phone, tv and A/C etc in our rooms to enhance the amenities for our guests. May not be very soon but definately we will consider to upgrade these facilities in coming days.

Regarding your statement that you felt that leaving the hotel after one night is totally acceptable given the condition that you could have clearly informed us about your dislike to stay in our resort. We do not want to take the money of our guests making them unhappy. This will never makes us happy and sustainable. You never approached us with your issues and when we asked with you if there is any problems, you did not made any statements about your dissatisfaction.

Again your statement that your stay in our resort had created a worst impression about Nepal is with due respect not admirable. We are in hospitality business for last 34 years and our top most priority is to make our guests stay delightful and beautiful by our hospitality and service because you deserve it.

Hope you will give us another opportunity to impresse you in future.

Best Regards,
Caron

We were greeted on arrival by their very friendly staffs, they helped to carry our stuffs and served us a welcome Masala tea.
The hotel is located in a beautiful and outstanding area where one can view a range of Himalayas mountains. Furthermore they have an excellent position, a 360 degree panorama view on rooftop to view both sunset and sunrise. The bedrooms are reasonably clean but cold at night.
The dinner was absolutely fantastic too. Thank to the Chef provide us those best chicken Momos and local cuisine.
We were really enjoyed to stay at Peaceful Cottage & Cafe du Mont, thank for their hospitality and warmth provided. Caron! you got a good and dedicated team, they will make you step forward to a success.
For those people planning to visit Nagarkot, Peaceful Cottage & Cafe du Mont is highly recommended.

The staff are really nice and very helpful. Clean large rooms, and lovely terrace for breakfast. Good location for small hikes, and free from hustle and bustle of the city. Quite little village with a few hidden gems for dinner. We were really happy with our stay.

We stayed on the new building of Peaceful cottage. They provided hot water and gas room heater. They also offered a ride to Thamel airport. Loved the food there. From Thamel, the taxi took 1300 for the ride and when coming back, Caron(The Manager) helped. So, you will find every solution at hand.

If you are stressed out with your daily life and want to have a pin drop silent place where you can know yourself with nature, you are destined to go to Nagarkot. Its a scenic place with moutain views. Pokhara is a bit more than sight seeing, it also has eventful town. But in Nagarkot, you will be just disconnected, so if you are one of them who like to switch of mobile for peace ;-), then you will love it in Nagarkot and offcourse @Peaceful Cottage & Cafe du Mont.
