“Worst food at highest prices!”
Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and while the room is large and well appointed it also has the most overpowering mouldy odour of any room I've ever been in! The whole building is full of mould! Not healthy! On the even lower note is the food! We had to pay 1000 npr for the buffet dinner but it is all Chinese food and extremely tasteless! We barely ate one plate, trying everything so if you are accustomed to decent food, stay away! The buffet breakfast was not much better with soggy toast and overly fatty bacon! We won't be back no matter how nice the view is! Thanks for the free wifi!

This was our 5th visit to the Fort which (still) has the finest position in Nagarkot with stunning views to the mountains from the terraces and from many of the rooms in the hotel building itself. The building is fascinating and although the staff are very willing to help there seems to be an air of bewilderment about so many people being in the hotel at any one time. It is now a favourite with chinese tour groups .The food seems to be geared to them and nowadays is buffet style - the a la carte menu seemingly having been dispensed with - Gone are the days of the yak or chicken sizzlers which we used to enjoy. It is now , regrettably, very poor quality and frankly some dishes e.g. Tibetan style Chicken Lardo quite inedible ( small pieces of crispy skin with bits of bone included ). There could have been an excuse as we were there after the November election when all transport had been stopped, however sources of chicken must have been local so there was no excuse for this awful ( and potentially teeth-damaging dish), Breakfast was mediocre, the bacon very fatty, only boiled eggs and the toast kept warm over a pan of hot water hence not exactly crisp..
Our large room/suite was in a 2 storey side annexe with direct access from the reception area. It had super views and it was a simple walk outside to a sunrise viewing terrace. The main hotel is now centrally heated but other rooms use bottled gas heaters . Hotwater bottles are also provided and necessary . There was a plentiful supply of very hot water - a major improvement from the past . People's main attraction for staying in Nagarkot is to see the sunrise . This can be done from some rooms in the actual hotel and the tower annexe otherwise people congregate on the terraces or right upon the roof . It's very cold and coffee/tea is on offer but it's well worth the effort to see the first rays of the sun catch the mountains .

Room Tip: Nearly all rooms face the mountains but there are some very small ones in the main building which do...

it takes one and a half hours to reach this hotel from Kathmandu.Situated in the small village of Nagarkot ( which is a bit too touristic to my taste), the hotel is recommended for its terrace and nice views of the himalayas (if you're lucky you could catch a glimpse of Mount Everst, but in the very far distance). The hotel itself is below average, and crowded with chinese tourists.Rooms are very basic( two single beds and a very old shower),so is the food. For me, the hotel is not worth the trip.

Room Tip: should you decide to go, opt for one of the bungalows, which are hidden in the gardens and offer nic...

we stayed here recently and loved the building and the views are amazing. The staff were attentive and very helpful and they worked very hard while we were there. The food we'd read was good, sadly this isn't true. The food was average at best although not expensive. In addition, the room we had was cold and the heater wasn't working. It smelt damp and musty and it can't be healthy. Still probably the best place in Nagarkot to stay though

I and my husband went to Nagarkot on 19th Sep. Our stay at this hotel is the best one till date. Mesmerizing view from every single part of this hotel is something you will not forget ever. Our room had big glass window on all three walls from where we can see Himalaya mountain range. The sitting arrangment outside was also very pleasant and relaxing. You can sip a cup of coffee with a marvelous view of cloud down the hill and high rise mountain range from the terrace/balcony itself. Sunrise or Sunset everything is just not to miss. Hotel staff and services are really friendly. Breakfast buffet is just amazing. I would prefer to visit Nagarkot again and again and will not look for any other hotel. The Fort is the one place i want to go in Nagarkot.

Room Tip: You can choose Cottages or room which is around 301, 302 these rooms have glass wall to give you fan...

Had a great time staying at the Fort Resort. We were staying in a cottage rather than a standard room. The view from the place was amazing. Our cottages were on top of the mountain, in the middle of the greens. The open space to sit in the resort was great for a relaxed evening. The only meal we had there was one dinner where they served good homely food. Also, there's free wifi in the lobby.
Since the place is surrounded by trees, there are sometimes insects in rooms, especially during the night. Hence advisable to carry insect repellent. If it were not for the insects, i would give the place a 5 on 5. Overall a great place to stay with complete value for money.

I was taken by car from Kathmandu Airport to this spectacular resort. approx 1 1/2 hrs through a lovely little village, fantastic views etc. I imagine this was once a working fort. My room was fantastic (more of a suite really,)with settee, 2 armchairs, a desk, nice bathroom and a huge bed. The views to the mountains were great altho' it was a bit cloudy.
I was the only guest there that night as the season was only just beginning. I was very well looked after .I would thoroughly recommend this place. The staff were very kind and gave me a wakeup call at 5.30 so I could watch the sunrise, which didn't really happen, never mind.
Nice food and good service, this has to be one of the best stays on my 3 week holiday
