“Best hotel in the area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2014

We spent two nights at the Resort. Great location for sure. The terrace offers 360 view. We spent two memorable sunsets and sunrises on the terrace. It it actually interesting to have read some of the reviews saying that there was no much to do. I guess it all depends. For one of our days, our schedule went like this: 5am sunrise, 6am yoga, 7am breakfast, 8am hiking, 1pm massage, 2pm lunch and drinks, 6pm sunset, 7pm dinner. Not a boring day!

The one blemish about the hotel was its food. In particular, the dinner was average at best. Our strategy was to eat as simple as we could be. It was not worth spending the money. Other than this, our stay there was perfect.

Room Tip: We thought that we needed a room facing east to see the sunrise. We had such a room. However, we did...

this place is here for the view, and that is about the only thing they have going for them. we had to double check that we were in the right place because the sign at the entrance is half missing and all quite dilapidated...

avoid the rooms in the old wing if possible (they are listed as standard rooms and are at least less expensive). the newer wing is listed as super deluxe i think. we stayed on the top (5th) floor of the newer wing, and have to say the price was extremely high for what you get. the new room is already showing signs of wear and the room was dirty (big stains on the curtains, the balcony was covered with bird s**t, and the bath room wasn't properly cleaned--especially the toilet seat).

for around $130 per night for 2 including 23% taxes (and that was after a lot of hard bargaining) it is very expensive without the service and cleanliness to match. the breakfast that came with the room was rather typical of many of the lesser places in nepal we've seen, and definitely not even 3 star standard (let alone 4). the restaurant for dinner (since the only other place nearby was closed that night) is nothing to celebrate and overpriced as was to be expected.

the view from the balcony and on the top terrace was great, but only if you are lucky enough to be there when the pollution and clouds aren't blocking it. in the early evening, the clouds started to give way a bit, and the peaks of a few mountains were shown. in the morning, before sunrise, the silhouette of the entire range was totally visible and quite impressive, as was the sunrise. however, as sun as the sun was up, the mountains disappeared--it seems, the sun reflected off the dust/pollution in the air and blocked the view...

with all said, the view was great for that short sun set time, but the rest was a disappointment. if it wasn't for the view, i would have given only two stars instead of the three that i did.

Room Tip: ask for a top floor in the new wing.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Club Himalaya. We got there a little late, but were greeted by a welcome drink and nice front office staff. We got to our room (a deluxe), and I must say that these are very large rooms with a really nice, classy feel to them. Nothing gawdy, nothing overstated, just nice and relaxing. The small balcony was fun to hang out on, even though it was already dark. After a fitful night of sleep, we awoke to a cloudy sky, but even then, the view was pleasant, as it cast the rolling hills beneath the himalayas in an interesting light.

After enjoying the view for a while, we headed to the large dining area, where there was a really good breakfast laid out; the staff was also friendly and helpful. After eating breakfast, we hung out on the terrace for a while and then proceeded to head back. All in all, a quick, wonderful getaway that I hope to repeat again in the future.

Room Tip: I stayed in the newer wing, facing the view. These rooms seem to be lovely.

Its all about the view of the Himalayas from this place.
Good hotel with good , clean, spacious rooms.
Very peaceful and relaxing.

Food was average.
Has a nice bar with fire place and the setting is quite good though small.

Should not miss the sun rise from here, really has a great view.
And if the weather is good, has a great view of the Himalayas too.

Shouldn't miss the sun rise with the view of Himalayas!!

Wi-Fi is only available in the main lobby area and we need to pay for use in room which is insane.

We stayed for one night at the hotel after we finished our Poon Hill trek. The rooms are clean and spacious, restaurant served great food, spa worth visiting and nice grounds around the facility. We weren't luck with the views (cloudy day) but the rooms have large balconies and it would've been great to see the sunrise there. We loved the terrace with lounge chairs they had setup off the library. Highly recommend you use them.

Room Tip: The rooms in the new quarters are called Deluxe and are a bit more expensive. We stayed in the Stand...

I'd been recommended this place by friends who'd been here and I loved it. The room was wonderful, and the balcony with the view of the mountains, it was great not to have to share it, my private slice of the himalayas. And I was particularly surprised by the extensive wine selection. Had a massage the next day to top if off, what a relaxing weekend!

We enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to drive in the morning and evening to see the sunset and sunrise, the hotel has an exceptional view of the himalaya range although there are some trees that block part of the view. We enjoyed the spa too.

Room Tip: Room with view of himalayas
