We have been to the wyvill arms quite a few times and the meals have always been very nice we always go to this restaurant when staying in constable burton. On our first few visits whilst on holiday we found the Wyvill a convenient place to eat and no complaints about the food our only niggle was its always the same veg green beans and carrots with choice of potatoes on every visit.
Our second holiday i was looking forward to returning to the Wyvill in April 2012 again 6 months later the same veg, i did however have the fillet steak again with the wild mushroom maderia sauce, on our first visit the sauce was wonderful with a heap of mushrooms and about £19.50
so i was looking forward to having the same again, what a dissapointment the sauce was an extra charge and when it came the fillet steak was so small with a few measly mushrooms and it cost near of £25.00 again with the same veg.
Our third holiday last week we thought we would give the wyvill another go but determined not to pay the price of the steak with sauce, the prices have risen Fish and chips now £12.95 which i think is a bit steep. It was a saturday night we booked our table and decided to try the steak pie after about a 40 minute wait the steak pie arrived it was luke warm and again the same veg green beans, carrot and chips. I asked for a white wine and soda the waitress brought a glass to me at the table and i can say it was the smallest glass of white wine and soda i have ever seen, it was so warm in the restaurant we were sat at the window and looking at the windows they were all black with mould and a dead fly on the window sill which put me off my dinner. I cannot believe that after 3 visits in a period of 18 months that they still have the same veg on the menu with no different choice or change on the menu, fresh veg is on your doorstep chef be a bit more adventurous with your side dishes. Dont think we will return in a hurry.
