We used to live in Leyburn so know the area well. Bellerby is great base from which to explore the Dales and Boar Cottage was an excellent place in which to lay out heads. The welcome was lovely and the little touches, wine, homemade bread etc were very welcome after a long drive.

“Here again to enjoy a winter break”
Reviewed February 12, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

A lovely cottage set just outside Leyburn with easy access to the Dales for walking and enjoying the countryside.
Having been before we know what to expect and it never disappoints.
Bernie and David ensure your holiday is a success and have thought of everything to make your stay memorable.
If I write much more and give a much more glowing report when we next want to visit they might be FULL.

“Perfect Weekend Break”
Reviewed January 8, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We met our in laws at Boar Cottage for a pre Christmas get together. Boar Cottage was perfect for our needs as it all on one level and has 2 bathrooms. The cottage is cosy, comfortable, well equipped and very clean. There was a lovely welcome from Bernie on our arrival together with a basket of goodies including home baked bread which was delicious. The weather for our weekend was rain, snow and cold winds but the cottage was lovely and warm - we didn't even need to use the log burner. An abundance of wildlife visited the garden (which must be stunning in the spring / summer) including the white pheasant. All in all we had a great weekend and highly recommend Boar Cottage.

“Boar Cottage - what a gem!”

Perfectly situated for walking and touring the Yorkshire Dales and Moors and just 1.5miles from the lovely town of Leyburn for shops.
Owners Bernie and David who live next door were very welcoming and greeted us on our arrival to show us around which was great. To our surprise there was milk and wine in the fridge, a freshly baked loaf of homemade bread and cake on the side, chocolates, welcome card and fresh flowers on the table – and even a packet of doggie treats!
The attention to detail was evident everywhere you looked. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want and more, the bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of storage space and the bathroom and en-suite shower room were spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. We lit the wood burner in the lounge/dining room on a couple of occasions with the provided logs which really added to the atmosphere.
There was loads of information on walks, places to visit, tours and restaurants and plenty of board games to play. Freesat TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player, DAB radio, CD player and iPod docking station were all available in the lounge - with another radio in the kitchen just in case!
There was ample space for off-road parking with an enclosed garden and well maintained paddock beyond to exercise dogs and for children to play in. There was also an outside table and chairs with BBQ facilities if you needed it.
I would say that Boar Cottage was the best equipped self-catering cottage we’ve ever come across and have already booked up for next year.
