“Lovely, warm, homely cottage in wonderful surroundings.”

What a lovely place...I want to live there forever! Bernie and David, the owners, are so kind and welcoming...how many other cottages have you stayed where you're welcomed with home made just-baked bread, a bottle of wine, a scrumptious cake, chocolates and luxury treats for the dog? I and little dog will definitely be going back (sorry about that Poppy, the owners' dog! You may have to say hello to a fiery little Chihuahua once more).
This cottage deserves all of its accolades.

“Absolutely Perfect!”
Reviewed August 4, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This has got to be without doubt the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. We were met on arrival and shown round which makes it so much easier to find everything. There was milk in the fridge, a loaf of homemade bread, cake, wine, chocolates and fresh flowers - I was amazed as our cottage last year was a 4 star and there wasn't even any salt in the salt pot! This cottage is very well equipped, and was spotlessly clean.
We have a 2 year old Border Collie and the whole area is secure - it was very reassuring to know that he could play outside without escaping.
The cottage is ideally situated for traveling around both Swaledale and Wensleydale, we even managed a trip to Whitby and York which were only just over an hour away.
I honestly can't find anything bad to say. Boar Cottage is so deserving of a Gold Award! We hope to return next year.

Undoubtedly the best cottage we have stayed in! Perfect location, amazing views, spotlessly clean and well equipped cottage, friendly and thoughtful owners (... and not forgetting the delightful Poppy). Thank you Bernie and David for the lovely welcome pack and for making our stay such an enjoyable one! The village pub was a stone throw away and served delicious home cooked food which was also a real bonus. We can't speak highly enough of Boar Cottage.... a real gem, can't imagine anyone not been impressed! Can't wait to return!

We've recently returned from a 5-day break at Boar Cottage. We received a a warm welcome from hosts, from David, Bernie and Lucy on arrival. This cottage is an absolute delight: spotlessly clean and extremely well equippped, with many very thougthful additions. The location was ideally located for us; a tranquil location with beautiful views beyond the cottage, yet conveniently located by a main road with easy access to towns, villages and beauty spots. We came back home thoroughly relaxed and felt very spoilt. Many thanks.

“An ideal and very comfortable cottage for exploring the Yorkshire Dales”
Reviewed May 1, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I have never previously visited Yorkshire but my sister does so quite regularly so I was finally persuaded to go with her to explore the Dales. Why did I wait so long as this area is such a relaxing place to explore - providing you don't mind driving on some very steep and narrow lanes. But what a joy it is - the scenery is breath-taking, the peace and solitude of hearing nothing other than birds singing or babbling brooks cascading down the waterfalls. This is the area that everyone should visit to appreciate how lucky we are to still have unspoilt countryside in the UK, dispelling the notion that everywhere is over-developed!
Boar Cottage is a delightful and beautifully maintained cottage. The owners live in their charming home next door but the cottage is totally private with it's own access and garden and overlooks a large paddock that you have free access to. This well established holiday cottage is very well equipped as a home from home and nothing has been forgotten. In choosing Boar Cottage for our holiday we were naturally influenced by the excellent Reviews on Trip Advisor, but it was not only as described but exceeded our expectations in every way.
A big thank you to David & Bernie for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay
