“Fantastic homely b&b and pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

Just returned from 2 nights stay in this lovely b&b, made to feel very welcome by Tom the owner, and the the locals were very friendly. Lovely clean room with the biggest and most comfortable bed ever!!! Fantastic home cooked food and a huge yummy breakfast!! Great base to explore all the local treasures of Yorkshire, in this beautiful idyllic little village.

The owner is great. The location is great. The locals are great. The food is great....
We were magnificently taken care of. The pub, the rooms etc were very clean.
Easy to find. Not too far from places of interest.
Can't wait to go back again.

We regularly visit North Yorkshire and stay over night and have stayed in some lovely places but this is our favourite so far.
The landlord Tom is very friendly and sociable. We arrived and were met with a warm welcome and shown to our double room. Spotlessly clean and lovely crisp bedding. Clean en-suite and lovely towels.
We sampled a few beers in the afternoon in the lovely bar where locals pop in to what is a chilled relaxing atmosphere.
At night back to the bar for a smashing evening meal...lovely food in great surroundings.
Tom's breakfast was fab .... the table was all set out with everything you need all with an excellent service, thank you to Dawn.
We enjoyed it so much we are returning in 3 weeks.

It is lovely to find a traditional pub rather than going to a big chain that provides accommodation.

We stayed here last week for couple of nights, on recommendation. It was great, the rooms are lovely and cosy. The pub is how a local pub should be nice welcoming real fire, nice music in the backgroud, The Real Ales were spot on and food was good too.Tom the landlord was lovely. The locals made you welcome to. It was nice to be in pub where you actually hear yourself speak.
We did not have the breakfast but we hear it is delicious. Will definitely stay again.

We stayed one night and would definately visit again. Lovely comfy bed, so had a good nights sleep. food is excellent. We ate in the pub Saturday evening, excellent value. Tom, your pie was wonderful, and what a cracking breakfast! We didn't need to eat again all day! We were made very welcome by everyone in the bar, especially Tom and Dawn, who couldn't do enough for us.
Would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: we had double room at he back, so did hear voices drifting up from the bar, but bed so comfortable s...

The pub welcomes dogs, and serves good traditional pub grub. It has a good selection of beers, but our favourite, Bellerby Bitter, is brewed just a few hundred yards away at the small Wensleydale Brewery. The locals were very friendly and we enjoyed participating in the regular Monday night quiz.

Landlord Tom Balls welcomed us at this traditional pub in the heart of the Dales with great ales, homecooked fare and plenty of stories. For the last two years my mates and I have been up for a weekend of cycling ending up at Tan Hill for lunch as part of a circular route, starting and ending at the Cross Keys. The locals are as friendly a group you could want for and the rooms are very well appointed. Cant wait for my next trip up there.

Room Tip: I have only stayed in the twin, which was great.
