“Best B&B ever - Highly recommend”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Stayed for two nights in October, we had fantastic weather. The accommodation is 1st class. Our room was huge with an equally huge shower room. Decor beautiful throughout the property. The couple who run the B&B are lovely, very attentive and helpful. The attention to detail is fantastic, especially liked the scrolls they have in the bedrooms tied with ribbon for you to select your choices for breakfast. Breakfast was 1st class, the tables in the lounge/dining room are strategically place for guests to enjoy the gardens and River Tay. The red squirrels and peacocks seemed to perform just at the right time! Great location, Grandtully within walking distance, we dined at the Inn on the Tay which was very pleasant. We visited Kenmore during our stay which is a must visit, beautiful setting on Loch Tay.
We would recommend a visit to the Crannog visitors centre which has a tour for only £8 per head, worth every penny and very interesting and educational for young and old. Very relaxing break, we will definitely be back, however will need to book in advance as this B&B, unsurprisingly, books up very quickly!

Room Tip: Any room as accommodation to such a high standard and a beautiful setting

We stayed for one night (too short!) in the Auchanross Suite. It was fantastically equipped for relaxing. The room was spotless and had everything we could possibly want. Alf was so helpful but not overbearing, he was there when you needed him. The grounds were stunning and made you feel like you were a million miles away. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. All in all - a brilliant stay! We would love to return.

Ann and Alf were a great hostess and host. We stayed in the Tay 1 room for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The B&B and its property is lovely, well maintained and right on the River Tay. Our room was nicely decorated, it had a true "king size" comfortable bed, a large bathroom with walk in shower and a closet which was handy for a 4 day stay. We had a view of the river from our second floor bedroom window. Ann's welcoming homemade scones were delicious as well as their made to order breakfast along with french press coffee, cheese, fresh fruit, jams and honey. The small village where the B&B is located is very attractive and has several beautiful old large homes. Also, the B&B is a five minute walk to a very good restaurant and a chocolate making shop which also has a coffee shop which serves lunch.

Room Tip: The suites are on the ground floor. We were on the second with two other rooms. Access is by a stair...

Just back from a two night stay at Riverwood Strathtay Perthshire. Riverwood in the name lived up to our wildest imagination. The house is secluded, nestled within more than an acre of woodland with the river running alongside it. The whole house was warm, spotless, beautifully and tastefully decorated. Our room was spacious, calming colours, with quirky pieces of hand collected driftwood all adding to our delight. The bed was so scrumptiously comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. Ann's homemade scones (fresh out the oven) on arrival, with fresh cream and jam was another delightful surprise. Breakfast was second to none, with a good choice of 'non usual' items on offer. I personally can vouch for handmade pancakes with warmed maple syrup and crispy bacon. Ann and Alf were wonderful hosts. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: peeped into one or two of the other rooms.....and each and every one looked as comfortable as the ot...

Everything about Riverwood Strathtay is simply wonderful. You are greeted with the most scrumptious freshly baked scones and a warm welcome. Rooms are spacious with a fabulous view and huge comfortable bed. The shower in the bathroom was large and everything was spotlessly clean. Even the small things like bottled water, little chocolate bars and Scottish shortbread were given daily to accompany the tea/coffee making facilities, added to the charm of the property. The only small issue we had was with the wifi internet connection being incredibly slow and disconnecting frequently. We spent most of our time out and about though, so only ended up being a minor issue. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. It was a joy to stay there. Many Thanks Alf and Anne !

Absolutely wonderful facility in a park-like setting on the bank of the River Tay, just outside of Pitlochry. Alf and Ann were truly warm and welcoming and their sense of style and attention to detail showed throughout our stay. Our large room was immaculate, beautifully designed and furnished, and featured a small private patio overlooking the grounds. Breakfast was presented with care in a well appointed room with a view to the river. At Alf's recommendation we walked across the metal bridge for an enjoyable local dinner and the next morning hiked a scenic path into Pitlochry. Our experience at Riverwood helped to define our trip to Scotland and for that we are grateful. We highly recommended Riverwood.

This was our second visit to Riverwood. We stayed here in June having selected it after reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed as the property and hospitality more than lived up to it's exemplary reputation. We certainly had no hesitation in returning and chose to spends two days here on our way to Elgin for our sons wedding. It was also my husbands birthday so we opted to take advantage of Ann's culinary expertise and reserved a table for our celebratory meal. We had been advised of the menu choices the day before and all the food was purchased locally and freshly prepared. There was a mouthwatering selection to chose from including for starters, smoked salmon fish cakes, smoked salmon salad, chicken liver pâté and haggis fritters. For our main course we chose sea bass, venison and lamb cutlets and for dessert fresh berry pavlova, profiteroles, cranachan and a cheese board. We have had the pleasure of enjoying some excellent cuisine in Scotland and Ann's skills are equal to any five star restaurant. If you are lucky enough to be staying on one of their gourmet evenings don't hesitate.

Strathtay is a beautiful area and if like us you enjoy a good walk Alf will be happy to direct you to the Rob Roy path over the hill to Pitloughry or in the other direction to Aberfeldy. He will even dry out your walking boots afterwards if the weather is inclement. Keep up the good work and look forward to returning next year.
