Rocky Hide-a-Way Cottages
Reviewed March 13, 2013

My husband and I are avid and whimsical travelers, and we and our beloved little Shih Tzus have criss crossed the country together for many years. We prefer to spend our time in cabins- as opposed to hotels- as we truly love exploring our surroundings and being off the beaten path. On a recent trip we were unbelievably fortunate to find Rocky Hollow, a haven on the banks of Bull Shoals Lake. On arrival, Robert, our gracious host, greeted us and led us to our cabin- one of the many he lovingly maintains- and immediately made us feel welcome. Each cabin is cozy and unique- perfect for a couple or small family- and there is a lodge for larger groups. I can't imagine any easier access to the lake- swimming, kayaking, and fishing are only footsteps away. Equally wonderful- Rocky Hollow is totally pet friendly, and our beloved pups enjoyed it as much as we did. We will most certainly be back, and I hope you will come and enjoy this delightful retreat too!

We're so happy you found us! The best part of our jobs is we get to enjoy the relationships we develop with our customers, many of whom have become lifelong friends. If I have a regret, its that time constraints and demands of the businesses we operate curb our ability to show every guest how much they mean to us as much as we'd like. We had a great time singing and playing guitars with you both. Thanks again for sharing your experience with other potential guests!

Loved staying here. We stayed over christmas break and really enjoyed our time. The area is so beautiful, the cabin was clean and cozy! Loved the view from the private dock. Took a 20 min drive to hike the Buffalo National River. Perfect Christmas get away!

My husband, 22 month old son and I just spent three nights and had a blast! Was even supplied with extra pillows to make a guard rail in the guest bedroom. Great shaded playground area to have your coffee and let the kids play. Water shoes are needed for lake access and the boat dock. Good location and great vacation spot for a very reasonable price. We enjoyed it!

At first we weren't sure about this place. The cabins 1 and 2 were small especially the kitchens. But by the end of our stay, we were wanting to stay another day. The location is the best in Bull Shoals. The convenience of walking down the path to the lake and private dock is worth the stay alone. It is in a quiet protected cove. Much better than the crowded marina boat slips. Our young kids played in the lake and pool and playground equipment all day. It is off the beaten path enough that we didn't have to worry about the safety of the kids or our belongings. The owners were helpful and courteous. Room were clean but could use some updating and some newer pots and pans. The pull out couch mattress was pretty bad, but what do you expect from a pull out? Bed were comfortable. Ample parking. Definately would stay here again!

Thank you for your kind review. Especially candid criticism, without which we could easily become complacent. Our goal is to make each guest feel important to us and with your reminder, we have replaced all the pots in Cabin 1 and inventoried the other cabins to make sure all the pots and pans are in good shape. We also have foam pads to accessorize the sleeper sofas, making them much more comfortable, I see we missed an opportunity to give them to you. We'll be more diligent to notify guests of the extra padding for the sleepers. Thanks again for reminding us of the small but extremely important details that we would otherwise overlook. Many blessings to you and your family, it was an honor to have such an accomplished WWII Veteran, a real hero and national treasure stay with us. It was the highlight of our season to see him with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren celebrating our nation's independance over the 4th of July!

My family and I went to Rocky Hallow this September 2010. Patti and Robert had a sign on our cabin waiting for us. Walking in our cabin we had ALL the amenities needed for our stay in every room. Being this was our second trip I was excited to see Patti and Robert since it had been over a year. When Patti seen me it was like we had never left. She remembered EVERYTHING from our last visit and that was so welcoming. Robert was up playing horseshoes with staff and he also came to me and again just like it was yesterday our conversation picked up where it left off.
The next four days cannot be described with words. whether you want to wake up with Deer at your front porch, or world class fishing, (I caught a 7.5 lbs Walleye off the dock at Rocky Hallow on my fist cast) in the evening, world renown trout fishing less than 5 minutes away on the white river. One of the most beautiful Golf Courses I have ever seen. To ending the evening around the fire pit its all at Rocky Hallow Lodge!!!!!! You may contact me for more information at ---.-----@-----.---

Its always our pleasure to have you and the family! We appreciate very much that you drive so far to stay with us every year. Fall is around the corner and we hope to see you again for the Fall Color Tour, part of our off season special. Fall is gorgeous in the Ozarks and our rates are greatly reduced making RHL the most affordable and highest quality lodging experience on Bull Shoals Lake! We'll have the fire pit and plenty of free firewood ready for you!

Had a great time at Rocky Hollow, we stayed in the main lodge with some friends. There were two families of 4 (4 Kidos/4 Adults) and had plenty of room. Robert and Patty were great hosts. Bull Shoals lake is awesome. Rocky Hollow is a great place for a lake vacation! We're booked for 2010.

We had a great time, on this fourth trip to Rocky Hollow Lodge on Bull Shoals Lake. Cabin 4 is really nice. We took three of the cabins for a week, and even though it rained a few of the days, the new owners were full of ideas and helpful information that made the trip a success. (they're very young for being lodge keepers, but very professional), Robert and Patricia were very kind hosts. and showed us many local activities to go do for the kids, and things to see. They also had coupons for local attractions. All the cabins were very nice, as was the main lodge where we stayed. The fireplace made the rainy days seem a lot more enjoyable. Highly recommended! We will be back!
