We took the DeGray State park guided sunset cruise on September 6, 2013. We had a wonderful time and it was so relaxing and informative. It was well worth more than the $9.00 fee per person. The State Park guide was very nice and knowledgable about the lake, the wildlife and the history of the lake. We highly recommend this guided lake cruise!!!!!!

Didn't have paddle boats was a disappointment, however the kayaking was a great subsitute. Water wasn't as clear as we were told, however we possibly could have went to the wrong beach. Overall, a very good trip. Love the horseback riding. It was a nice way to end our day a Degray Lake

We spent the week of July 4 at this park camping in a trailer. Every staff member we encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful. If we lived closer I would go every 4th of July! The holiday itself was exceptional and not over crowded! There were games and contests for kids and adults throughout the day including watermelon eating, water balloon volleyball, and kayak races, to name a few. The fireworks show was spectacular, as was the wait for the show with the beautiful lake view.
In addition to the 4th, we enjoyed the activities offered throughout the week such as loosely organized games. I say loosely because while there was a specific game scheduled and a prize the park interpreter modified and adjusted to make it fun for all. For instance, my 8 year old daughter was encouraged to join knockout, and they gave her a few extra chances to shoot, but among the teenagers and adults there was still a level of friendly competition. Also during the week there were several different boat tours (snorkeling, swimming, and just sightseeing) which were very inexpensive. Free craft and forest trivia programs were also available at various times which our family enjoyed. Also on site are horseback riding and a pretty and inexpensive golf course with plenty of shade, so it was enjoyable even in July.
It was also close enough to go into Hot Springs for a day which we enjoyed having never been to Arkansas before.
The RV sites are nicely spaced providing plenty of room and very shady and cool. There is a cute little mom and pop produce store very near the park exit which had an unexpectedly wide range of groceries if you are cooking out at your RV site.
The only 2 possible downsides here were very spotty cell service and there are no full hook-ups, only water and electric.

We enjoyed everything about this vacation except the full-sized beds-why can't resorts/hotels just all go with queens :D?
The water was beautiful, the food was good, priced reasonably and the staff was helpful for the most part. There is something for everyone to do there. I am sure we will go back, even after 4 days of exploring and taking it in we didn't see everything. I will tell you however, the website is very misleading-the meal pictures at the restaurant are not even ON the menu and the rooms tho clean and sufficient are very tiny. I called twice prior to our visit and specifically asked about the swimming "beaches" and if they were close to the lodge "walking distance" and was assured they were... they ARE NOT, unless you consider several miles away "close" and/or "walking distance". That said, swimming is permitted anywhere on the lake and the beaches were absolutely clean and managed and the drive scenic! While this is billed for couples, families, just about everybody, I did not see much that would draw couples this time of year with lots of young families and little kids everywhere. I bet in the fall tho it would be a nice romantic getaway!
