Owner description: When Sam Walton opened his 5&10 on the Bentonville town square in 1950, he had no idea he'd planted the seeds for what would become the global leader in retail, saving millions of people money so they could live better. Today, that humble little dime store is the location of The Walmart Museum. A family-friendly experience in 3 parts, the Museum features a world-class exhibit gallery, Walton's 5&10, and The Spark Cafe. Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.M. - 9:00 P.M. Friday - Saturday: 8:00a.M. - 10:00P.M. Sunday: 12:00 p.M. - 9:00 P.M.

Located right on the town square, this was an enjoyable place to spend a few minutes. Much of the WalMart history is fully explained, and there is even a small shop (the old "5 and 10") with an array of items available for purchase.

We felt like the museum was an infomercial for Walmart. But it's free and the little shop has fun, nostalgic things for sale. If you're there you might as well stop buy.

Small novelty shop where Walton' 5 and 10 was once housed. Enter there for a museum like tour through the life and history of Sam Walton and his rise to the creation and building of the Wal-Mart empire. Takes 1 to 2 hours and end the tour in the old corner soda shop. It is worth the effort to go see. Free and the history lesson is very interesting. Go see it.

Worth a visit if in Bentonville - as the Walmart phenomenon still strives for world domination - a good insight into the life, and life style of Sam Walton - and the company's subsequent relentless growth.

to me this is a wonderful cultural slice of America's history and a tribute to American spirit, hard work and midwestern values put into action in the form of a business.
