We had a guided tour of the Museum and it was outstanding. The guide knew so much about the Yuma Proving Grounds, it's founding, history, use during WWI, and beyond. Highly recommend, and you don't have to be a military buff to enjoy.

Came to the visitor center on Monday. She said it was only open on Tuesday thru Friday. No mention that i could get a pass now for a future day. I went back in to ask if i could get a pass for a future day. She said yes. I got a pass. Was there with my son. No mention of any instructions at all. Came back to the front gate on Tuesday. Was told that i needed to enter a different gate. Drove to that gate. Was told i need a pass for each person. Found out museum closes at 1pm. We drove back to visitor center.
It was basically too late by then. Put about 20 unnecessary miles and wasted about 2 hours in a class a rv. Lol. No wonder you fools need such a giant budget! Your massive bureaucracy and ineptitude are astounding. I will say: everone i talked to was polite. I guess it's just that everyone has given, expects civilians to be omniscient, or is (as the prejudice states) the bottom of the barrel with regard to intellect.

Sorry that your experience trying to get here didn't work out for you. The museum is normally open 1000 to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday. Since I am a staff of one (no bloated budget here) it is likely I had other duties to attend to that took me away from the Museum. Rating a facility you never got too seems a bit unfair.

The Yuma Proving Grounds Heritage Center is a relatively small building located on the base that houses a lot of small displays for it size. The displays consists of photos with narration, videos, ammunition, uniforms, etc. There is more reading material than you can cover in just 3 hours or so. The is a docent to greet you and give you small history of the facility, but then you are on your own. To gain access to the base, you must first stop at the Visitors Control Center located outside the base. Just look for the all the tanks, cannons, and rockets located out front. Inside the Center, you will need I.D., Proof of Insurance and Vehicle Registration to acquire a pass that allows you on the base. The Heritage Center does have very nice restrooms, but no food or drink is available. The center is wheel chair friendly and admission is free.
