“Tough climb”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

This is a very tough trail, but very worth the effort. Take a lot of water and go on a cool day in a cool time of the year. It will be about a few hour hike to the top and back. They have a book you can sign up at the top. Wear shoes with good traction as it is slippery on the pavement.

“Fun day trip”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Great way to get outside and kill a few hours. Park your car at the base and hike up the pass. You can go different routes depending on your skill level. Bring water!

“Great trek for working the calves!”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This trail is a fantastic workout and there are great views of Yuma from the top. Your calves will be pumped by the time you reach the summit. The cement road is a better cardio routine as you can go faster but the unpaved trail will test your balance more. It should take you about 2 hours round-trip from the parking lot if you are in average shape.
There are no garbage cans or outhouses along the way.
Watch for the dog poop as some owners are very irresponsible!

“Very steep climb, but rewarding”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

If you want to test your endurance, check out telegraph pass. Not everyone can make it to the top considering the grade, but if you do, it's quite rewarding. I wouldn't recommend it during the Summer, but it's great to add into your fitness plan during the cooler months.

“Steep hike, excellent views”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

We started this hike early in the morning, which meant we could walk up in the shade, and have the shade for much of the way down until it flattens out.

It is not many miles, but once the climb starts it is steep and relentless to the top.

While it is hard work, it is well worth it for the excellent views.

Parking is not signposted for Telegraph Pass, but if you follow N frontage Road to its end it is obvious where people stop.

Some of the hike is loose underfoot, but the main climb is on a made road.

It seems to be quite popular at the weekend, with people heading up and down at a range of speeds, from a slow walk to runners.
