This is a beautiful park and a very educational tour. I highly recommend it. The park is a nice place to look over the Yuma Valley by the Colorado River and the tour through the prison is very educational. A visit inside one of the cells reminds you not to break the law for sure.
The gift shop has some great items also. This is a great place to take friends and family when they visit Yuma

Very interesting information and history about the Territorial Prison. You need to visit it to get more background and history of Yuma. You could walk or bike from the prison to the West Wetlands Park along the irrigation canal. You can also view the Ocean to Ocean Bridge from the prison. Close to historic downtown Yuma.

I had read about this place several times in the travel section of the paper, but this was my first opportunity to visit. It is well worth the six dollars. My visit was interrupted by an unexpected call so had to leave before seeing everything, but I really enjoyed all that I saw. The interpretive signs around the property told a fascinating story. It was hot as Yuma can be, but if it had been cooler, I would have done more walking on the trails in the area.

A nice reminder of how hard life was back when Arizona was a U.S. Territory. To find out that at one point the prison was turned into a High School was not expected. To this day the Yuma High School 'Criminals' honor that period in Yuma history.

This is a very interesting and informative park, and if you can visit in the autumn (especially around Halloween) it's great fun for all family members. Definitely a cooler weather place to see, considering Yuma's summers average in the 100's!
The Yuma community has really come together to keep this a vital part of Yuma!
