“Long Drive and Not Much to See”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

We are birders, so went there mainly with that in mind. It's about 45 minutes north of Yuma and then your are traveling on pretty rough dirt roads. We were in a 4 wheel truck so no problems, but those in cars should be careful. The road parallels the river with frequent turnoff roads to river overlooks. A nice afternoons drive, but not really that much to see since the birds were absent.

“Beautiful Canoe Trip Through Imperial Refuge”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

Rented canoes for the day (Yuma River Tours: http://www.yumarivertours.com/aboutus.htm) and had a wonderful time paddling down the Colorado River through the southern part of the Imperial Wildlife Refuge. Saw quite a variety of birds, petroglyphs and a stone cabin from the 1800s. Beautiful, beautiful area...definitely recommend exploring, either by canoe, kayak, boat, or walking!
